Nothing quite exemplifies the Persian Rug like the classic Kashan design.
Kashan is a city in the northern area of the Isfahan Province - a region famous for its high quality hand knotted rugs.
The traditional Kashan hand knotted rug comes in a variety of qualities and usually features a medallion and corner design.
The pile is generally 100% wool on a cotton foundation although some pure silk Kashans are in the market.
The pallette of colours used are generally rich reds, blues, ivory, yellow, burnt orange and sometimes green.
The pile is usually clipped short to showcase the the clarity of the design of the rug.
