DTF film is a special coated PET film used to transfer printed designs onto clothing and fabric using heat and pressure.
Types of DTF film
* Hot peel: Remove the film immediately or within a few seconds after pressing. Great for faster production.
* Warm peel: Allow it to cool slightly before peeling.
* Cold peel: Let the transfer cool completely before removing the film. It often provides strong adhesion and detailed results.
* Single-sided film: Only the printable side is coated.
* Double-matte film: Easier to handle and helps prevent slipping or static.
Dos ✅
* Print on the coated/matte side of the film.
* Keep the film clean, flat and free from fingerprints.
* Store it sealed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
* Use the correct printer settings and ICC colour profile.
* Apply DTF powder evenly while the ink is still wet.
* Cure the powder properly before heat pressing.
* Follow the supplier’s peel instructions.
* Test the film before completing a large order.
Don’ts ❌
* Don’t print on the shiny or uncoated side.
* Don’t touch the printable surface unnecessarily.
* Don’t expose the film to moisture, dust or excessive heat.
* Don’t use too much powder—it can create thick or rough edges.
* Don’t under-cure or burn the adhesive powder.
* Don’t peel too early if it is warm- or cold-peel film.
* Don’t mix settings from different film suppliers without testing.
Good-quality DTF film should feed smoothly, absorb ink properly, release cleanly and produce bright colours with sharp details. Always follow your supplier’s instructions because pressing and curing settings can vary between film brands.
