We’ve been traversing the countryside over the past few weeks so it’s been a busy season for us here at Kindred 🤍 Of course no matter how busy, we always found time to explore local bookshops seeking inspo for our little biz and new products for our beautiful customers! This is not a cook book! Rather it is the true story of poet Eliza Acton who dreamed of seeing her words in print. But this is England in 1835 and her publisher says of her manuscript that ‘poetry is not the business of a lady’. Instead, they want her to write a cookery book. Eliza leaves their meeting appalled, however when her father is forced to leave the country due to bankruptcy, she has no choice but to consider the proposal.
Despite having never cooked before (not even a boiled egg!), Eliza Acton became one of the world’s most successful cookery writers. This is her fascinating and inspiring story.
