Does the City of Subiaco take us for mugs?
The simple fact is that the Council could have voted weeks ago at the first meeting to demolish but chose not to, even though in December the same council approved plans which included part of the facade being demolished to put a road through!! Now we find that not only have the SaveSubi councillors done everything they can to delay anything happening, but officers at the city of Subiaco have aided and abetted Councillor Stroud and her SaveSubi group and helped prepared the heritage submission. There needs to be an external investigation into this and why council staff are preparing documents to be submitted by “members of the public”. Who authorised this? Why would the City of Subiaco do this to its small businesses?

"The City will continue to do whatever it can to reopen Hay Street partially and in full as soon as possible.” ~ Acting CEO Cliff Frewing said.
This is simply not true. The CEO may be trying, but he is being undermined by the SaveSubi Councillors led by Deputy Mayor Stephanie Stroud. They could have voted weeks ago to allow this to happen. Who at Subiaco is going to stick up for the small businesses in the area? This group of anti-everything councillors are destroying the Subiaco retail precinct.

This isn't a win. Two lanes so people can get out of the Perth CBD after work does nothing to help us small businesses who rely on the road including parking and footpaths being open.
Is there anyone at Subi with small business experience who will stand up to the SaveSubi bloc and the city staff they are working with and call them out. We are dying here from lack of business and you're telling us three months! This is not a solution.

Business owners have endured a huge downturn in trade since a portion of Hay Street was closed when buildings began to collapse.

Confirmation it could be another 84 days!Such contempt from the anti-business bloc on council!

At the conclusion of the meeting tonight - a meeting that was closed to the public - the CEO thanked workers at the City of Subiaco for the huge effort in actually working over the weekend.

The irony of this was not lost on any of us running a small business.

So it is now being reported that Cr Stroud and the SaveSubi councillors, along with senior staff at Subiaco prepared the heritage claim that was then passed to a member of the public to lodge. Not sure whether this qualifies as corruption, but it must be getting close.

I have been informed by the City of Subiaco that if any businesses wanted to put in a submission to tonight's meeting the cut-off was 5pm yesterday - on a public holiday!!
What's more - the meeting will be behind closed doors!!
The City of Subiaco - once again kicking goals for transparency and accountability.

Well done to the Sunday Times. These SaveSubi councillors should be held to account and Cr Stroud should be struck out of any further meetings after her disgraceful breach of trust.
