The curtains are closing. Please follow to keep updated on my work, projects, teaching and travels as I will be making this account inactive. I need to keep things simple with just one account.
There is lots of new work on my website at the moment, watercolour paintings and sculptures, as well as new ceramics sculptures.

It is with great sadness to share with you the passing of my wife, mum of Inge and Edie on Saturday 14 June.

This photo wasn’t taken long before she was diagnosed with colon cancer in Oct 2019, which she fought with great determination inspiring many of us.

This was our happy place, our studio in Spotswood and before in Kensington. We loved working together on our creative ideas and we really were a perfect team.
I am lost for words as there is so much to say, but those who knew her know how special she was and in our hearts still is.

I would like to thank everyone who has been part of our wonderful journey together, clients, buyers, suppliers. Photographers, framers, fellow artists, galleries, friends and family and so many more.

Stefan is demonstrating his contemporary watercolour teaching at .au Sat 20 Jul from 1.30pm. The Art Room has a huge variety of classes and workshops run by practicing artists and international guest lecturers. From folio building to technique development & foundation courses in a variety of medium. So what’s stopping you? Get started!!

“Trees Never Sleep” explores the “in-out” experience for the viewer of partially observed landscapes becoming pictorial elements. You can view it as a de facto landscape where you are in one form or another together but not as one.

This exhibition of recent watercolours by Stefan Gevers takes historic works as a reference to find a new vision and to question ‘what is it about this landscape that we actually see?’
Using devices like scraping the paper and creating layers of fine vertical ‘curtains’ or a white wash effect, the viewer is given new opportunities. New glimpses into what was, and what might be.

Trees Never Sleep explores the “in-out” experience for the viewer of partially observed
landscapes becoming pictorial elements. The interplay of positive and negative space guides us deeper into the narrative of the landscape, focusing on specific locations and bringing to light the elements that contribute to the “bigger picture”.
