So well said • When you work with a material as natural as clay, it naturally deepens your awareness of the environment.
My studio runs on solar power with battery storage, with an onsite sewer system. The external walls are made from Australian charred timber (a traditional Japanese process called Shou Sugi Ban) which has a lower carbon footprint than most other materials. In my workshop all clay offcuts, water, plastics & cardboards are reused & recycled. Every little bit counts.
Ceramics are made to last. Some of the oldest pottery ever found is over 20,000 years old, a beautiful reminder that each piece can become a lasting keepsake—something to use, enjoy and hold onto for years to come.
