Greetings and all the best for 2026🎶🙏 anyway lm working on my first Cannonball Saxophone, an alto, being in Darwin with a small population and smaller professional music scene l generally only see student quality saxophones. Anyway lm just wondering if anything specific and particular about working on these instruments given that they are highly engineered and designed! Anyway lots of basic issues with mould and corrosion given the weather in Darwin ie hot and humid, but lovely detail to design and finish with this instrument and lm looking forward as always to getting it up and working again. Just curious if anyone has any suggestions about particular aspects to the Cannonball when working on it, thx cheers.
Have added some before photos of the body with everything removed! lots of grime and rusty springs and elbow grease to look forward to!

starting work on this King Zephyr Tenor! very dusty, hasn’t been played in decades l would say, and lots of corrosion on the tone holes and on the body generally. love the under braced neck! and double screws on the bottom C guard on both sides. many pads have fallen out and old and brittle so all pads to be replaced! so big job but no great hurry owner is happy to get it started 👍🎶

an old Yamaha tenor with significant damage to the neck, (an old hole for a pickup many years ago), and all the pads worn, dry, falling out, eaten by insects or a combination of all! anyway after lots of elbow grease and a variety of superficial injuries! plus many parts the instrument lives again! has that big sound from older Yamahas, very resonant on low notes and bright on the higher notes and loud! nothing tinny about this sax and an old Selmer mouthpiece and ligature (cleaned!), also. owner is very pleased and happy as l am 👍🙏🎶 enjoy the photos pls thx cheers

plug made for a yamaha neck with old microphone hole/damage! anyway made from silver and yet to be soldered on with a new mouthpiece cork. lovely little repair work and should polish up and look fabulous when finished 👍🎶
the neck isn’t bent, the hole is off centre so puts perspective out, and the metal fabricator suggested this method and l am very happy to follow their advice, and the owner doesn’t want a microphone they want the hole/damage repaired 👍

a new job on the bench, a straight soprano saxophone, first pictures from a recent job of a curved soprano and showing a comparison to them, but other pictures of the straight soprano stripped with polish on it, and the necks which haven’t been started yet! anyway lovely little saxophone, it was playing before I pulled it down but very clunky and some slow response in the key work, and looking forward to getting back together again but no great hurry l own this! cheers

Hi l have a Yamaha Tenor in for a rebuild but there is “hole” in the neck which l presume was something for a pickup! anyone have any ideas? thx in advance cheers

Satisfying result on an old Vito clarinet, that l got as a job lot pre covid 3 for 50! as much as some of the tarnishing is still there, the texture of the key is very smooth now as compared to the other key which is very rough to touch! all elbow grease and jewellers very fine emery👍 and the dark streak on the keys is my reflection 😃🎶

Hi thx for accepting my business/hobby page anyway lm thinking of getting the sax key bending tools from Ferree’s and wondering if someone can advice me at all; they aren’t cheap $300 Aus but I have enough instruments of my own that I can use it on and recently an instrument with a very off centre high D side key came in that would benefit l think from these tools. Anyway any feedback would be appreciated thx cheers Brian
