Second workshop done and dusted. Yesterday the artists developed their works from last week, adding more depth and highlights to their works and used a palette knife on one of them.

Over the course of tonight’s opening, the gallery saw approximately 70 people attend and appreciate the works by Rainbow local artists Tracey Smith, Natalie Robinson, Kathy Klemm, Val Roll, Erica Code and Belinda Eckermann. It was certainly well received by all who attended.

Thankyou to Tracey Smith for all her organising with the other artists, and for assisting with the running of the gallery recently; and to Erica, Katrina and Jodi who also stepped in. Thankyou to Natalie Frew who stepped in to complete the setup of “Shared Horizons” whilst I worked in Horsham, to ensure everything went smoothly tonight , and to Sophie for doing the final arrangements today.

Thankyou to all the artists for organising the food, to Katrina Hollingsworth for her hot food, to Seppelt Winery for the wines and to Grampians Olive Co. for their oils, olives and dukka.

Make sure you come and check out the exhibition while it’s on. You may just be surprised by the talent!

“Shared Horizons” opening tomorrow night at 6pm. doors will be open at 5 for those attending the quiz night or anyone wanting to come early.
This exhibition involves six artists from Rainbow and their shared love of art, knowledge and experiences. With a beautiful array of works, you will be delighted to see what talent we have in Rainbow.

This afternoon we completed the first of our two-part oil painting workshop. Using beautiful lemons donated by Helen Fisher — thank you, Helen! — participants began the first layer of two paintings.

One work explored traditional blending techniques, while the second introduced optical mixing, challenging participants to step outside their usual way of painting and experiment with colour and technique.

Next week, we’ll build on today’s foundations, adding more detail and introducing the palette knife to bring the works to life.

What a wonderful result from today’s car drawing workshop! We also had two adults join us. I was very impressed with their efforts to build a drawing of a car starting with a cube.
