South Seas are looking for a passionate reader to join our booksellers. We need a prolific reader, as well as someone who is personable, energetic, computer-savvy, and a good communicator.
This is a casual position of between 7 to 15 hours p/w and will involve working shifts during the week and some weekend shifts. Being flexible as to the days you are able to work would be preferable.
We are looking for an applicant who is able to work as part of a small, hardworking and dedicated team. A successful bookseller requires both a passion for books, as well as a willingness to undertake general retail duties such as unpacking stock, stocking shelves, visual merchandising, researching book availability, being up to date with current reviews, new releases, and book industry details such as awards etc, and most importantly, the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
An interest in reading books, talking about books, writing book reviews, as well as digital and literacy skills for undertaking email communications and social media, website updates and operating point of sales systems is essential.
