Artists statement: In many traditions the wand is a symbol of water, wind, fire, earth and spirit. A tool that draws healing light energy through the healer to the recipient, or an extension of the life force of the person doing the healing or the giving. Feeling and making connections with unseen energies and vibrations of the natural world, and in doing so bringing a change in oneself or effec
ting others. In early grief I started to make wands. Perhaps it was a calling of the psyche, a turning towards the healing rhythms and subtle connections I felt in nature … perhaps it was just a need to believe in magic. What I do know is that where there is love, there can be healing and in this way we can all be the magicians in our lives. Each wand is unique and has its own momentum. I never really know how a wand is going to evolve - until it does! It's an intuitive process, starting with a stick that finds me and then chooses a crystal. I bind the wand with little surprises, charms , feathers , white sage or native flora and it becomes easier a story and the wand becomes a story. The magic of the wand is in the making and the exchange of energy between the giver and the receiver. Each wand is greater that the sum of its parts. As are we. There is a beginning, a middle and and end, and eternal quality found in the vibration of the crystal. When choosing a wand, listen to the whisperings of your heart, not your head. Let the wand choose you. I recommend binding your own soul treasures to your wand, to personalize, or for gifting , if you feel to. Each wand is bound and tagged with a timber wisdom wands tag and it’s story . ...... Zoe Strickland Pomona Queensland
