So i Thought it was about time to introduce my self .
My name is Jo Glew , jojo , mum, nan, aunty, sis or just jo !! Im a wife, a mother of 5 kids , Nanna of 8 , and a aunt to god knows how many !! Im 50 years old and this is my story !!
As most of you are aware, or for those who are not aware .. here is a quick rundown on how we ended up here
I was diagnosed with advanced severe crohns disease 10 years ago, the result of this was life saving surgery, and the birth of the most evil, nasty, cruel and the most painfull thing i have ever endured .. !! THE PIG !! Waking in ICU i had no idea how my life was going to change !
Its a stoma !! A stoma is another way for your body to remove its waste !! Surgically done through your stomach wall where you s**t into a bag stuck to your stomach !!
This prick has seriously made my life a living hell .., a very grateful living hell .. but a nightmare that has no end, …
They dont teach or warn you about the mental trauma rollacoaster your about embark on !! Then the long hospital stays, the tests, the leaks, the embarrassment of s**t running down your stomach in public !! not to mention the rancid smell , then there is the hernia , the side effects of the disease itsself, the pyroderma gangrenous that eats away at your flesh like gangrene would !!
the dietry and many other restrictions you have to take .. the steroids that seriously send you mentally insane , that create un called for road rage attack sor make you so hysterically bi pola all because the nursing staff forgot your boiled egg for breakfast !! Sobbing uncontrollably all because you have no idea why !! The biologic meds .. the constant blood tests ect … !!
Literally my life turned to S**T !! ..
Crohns disease and diabetes with a stoma is hard work !! I was diagnosed with 3 large blood clots in my lungs a few years back ..another nice little gift from the disease !! I basically had just had enough and was just giving up on everything .. my darts, dancing , singing , writing .. camping , dining out, BBQ’s .. any social activity and all the other things i loved !! I havnt been inside a shop for over 8 years 😔
I missed my darts so much , missed all my friends , the socialising , the travel and the game and bookwork in general, not to mention Having a few cans and enjoying myself !! , i gave it up because of the embarrassing mishaps , the smell and the disgusting disfigured shape my body was shaping into !!
The lack of energy and fatigue , the inability to do everyday things .. but most of all i lost my smile , my laugh , my spark !!
When my mother passed away it crushed my heart and soul and any spark that i may have had left !!
I was done and bound for a life i couldn’t live and didn’t ask for !!
I finally opened mums belongings a few months after her passing and found her crystals and sun catchers .. i forgot how much i loved them !!
I then decided to try and make some of my own ( thought the priced for buying were ridiculous )
After a few failed , half finished attempts i realised how much i loved making crafty things .. So in the beginning i only made things for my family and friends as gifts !! They seemed to like them alot !! Then i had this insane idea that i could maybe sell a few of things id made just to buy more items to keep creating !! Not only do i love doing it , its also helped me find a part of me again !! Helps keep me awake and out of bed more and more .
Sometimes i even sing while im creating , still know all the lyrics to most bon jovi songs ..
But seriously the best is i found my smile again !!
My husband who has been through hell as well , has not left my side since we met maybe 10 years ago !! We only met 9 months before i woke up in ICU , before the emergency surgery !!
He could have ran !! I wouldnt have blamed him … Many if not all would have done , i mean who wants to clean up s**t more then 5 times a day for a woman he only knew for just 9 months pria to the birth of the pig !!
This incredible man has endured things that most hubands would never do .. and we fight and argue but he is still here with me !!
When he kisses my , cheek and says … proud of you my girl !! A just walk away is all i need to smile ..
and My amazing cute hysterically happy grandsons who love me unconditionally gave me back my life !!

This story is not written for yours or anyone elses sympathy or pitty , .. i dont need or want it … i have a amazing family who are supportive , loving and willing to travel my journey with me !! shared it with you all so you might have some idea of who i was , what i became and who i am now !! , hoping you understand and realise this isnt about making sales … its about the trek back to find me .. the new me who has a new passion and wants the whole world to know !!
