This pair of 970 boots are 21 years old, and well and truly in need of new soles. We started by breaking the boots down, removing the soles, stitching, cork and inner boards. We made new inner boards to replace the original ones that had broken up, and secured them to the gemming. The cork was renewed and the shanks reinstalled, and then we bonded new shoulder leather midsoles to the boots, bonding with Renia cdc and hand stitching to the welt. New Montagna soles were bonded to the boots, using Renia cdc and rehagol primer on the soles. They were pressed well, before trimming on the and hand sanding and colouring the edges, and then we reinstalled the original logo hardware onto the new soles. Some minor scratches in the uppers were repaired, and then we nourished them with shoe cream. Now these well loved boots are good for another 21 years 🏍️
