We trekked down to Moama for the Vic and NSW State Titles last weekend. Moama shares the Victorian and NSW border with Echuca with the river separating them.
To say it was hot would be an under statement with about 40 odd degrees in the pits for both days.
We steadily got through qualifying with 2 x 6th places and a 4th place and that had us qualified in 15th position. Happy with that as it would have us directly into the final with needing the B main to get through if it was to be run.
We started steadily in the final leading the Sportsman category when on lap 10 we had a LH/R wheel bearing failure which resulted in the drive hub stripping. So we DNF’d the NSW title race.
We were able to get the needed parts at the track combined with our spares the next morning to fix the problem.
Again Hot, we qualified 20th into the Victorian title. Kept our nose clean though the early part of the race and hit the lead of our Sportsman category with 15 to go. With a cigarette paper between myself and 2nd we made it home to be 1st Sportsman in the Victorian state title.
We are so glad we made the trip down there. It was an almost 2000km round trip but was worth it. Awesome track and venue and glad I got to experience this place.
