Our little story behind Pakenham Music we thought after 8 years that it’s time to let you all in on this local business and how it began.

So Eight years ago, two mates from Berwick Primary School decided to take a chance on a dream they had talked about since they were kids.
Back when they were 12 years old, Nick and Jake played together in a school rock band called Teachers Nightmare — Nick on drums, Jake on guitar. Like a lot of young musicians, music quickly became more than just a hobby. It became a lifelong passion.
Years later, after continuing their own musical journeys and staying close mates through it all, they realised it was finally time to build something together — a local music store designed to genuinely help people.
That’s how Pakenham Music was born.
For the past 8 years, we’ve proudly supported the local music community here in Pakenham and the South East. From first guitars and drum kits, to helping experienced musicians find the perfect gear, we’ve always believed buying an instrument should feel exciting — not overwhelming.
A lot of families walk through our doors not knowing where to start, and that’s completely okay. We’ve always tried to be a bit like the local hardware store for music — a place where you can ask questions, get honest advice, and walk away knowing you made the right choice for your child or yourself.
One of the best parts of what we do is seeing young kids pick up an instrument for the very first time. Helping guide that first purchase is something we never take lightly, because the right instrument can be the difference between someone giving up… or discovering a passion that stays with them for life.
We’re not a big corporate chain. We’re two local families who genuinely care about our customers, our community, and the local music scene.
To everyone who has supported us over the last 8 years — whether you bought a guitar, came in for strings, had a chat at the counter, or trusted us to help your kids start learning music — thank you.
We honestly couldn’t have done it without you.
