There is a common misconception that you don't need to filter the water at caravan parks because the water authorities have already done it.
While this might be true, once the water leaves the treatment plant kilometres away, it’s in ‘no man’s land’ and vulnerable to various issues along the pipelines leading to the caravan park tap. These problems, such as burst mains and backflow, can contaminate the tap water, which is often considered safe to drink. This can lead to dirt and bacteria entering your tanks, pumps, and plumbing system. Remember, one bug can ruin your holiday.
Think of caravan/RV water supplies like electricity. It’s delivered to the connection point, but it’s up to you to keep it safe!
Ultimately, it comes down to what you are comfortable putting in your body. We always recommend filtering all water to avoid a pesky stomach bug, and just for that extra peace of mind while you're on the road.
