In a shocking development, I have accomplished something! Now when people walk in they can see my face, instead of 6-10 piles of sentient books 🤣 now, with verifiable evidence that it has been cleared! I should have bought a newspaper to hold up as further proof, but one cover literally had Jim Chalmers with “Your capital is his gain” where the C was a hammer and sickle. Thanks Daily Telegraph, 🙄 Thanks Murdoch.

Also, I talk a bit about banned books, and in case you’re interested but NOT the note taking type, here are the ones I mention:
Sarah J Maas (Most of her books really), Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult, Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, 1984 & Animal Farm by George Orwell, Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, and Looking for Alaska by John Green.

A few randoms coming through and here’s why you’re seeing photos of them!

More or Less Maddy is the newest Lisa Genova we have and this is our first copy. Weyward was a great witchy novel that I read and can recommend for folks who enjoy witches and their history! The Salt Path gets asked for once a week, and here it is! Heal Your Nervous System is like new and I’m sure someone will find it interesting!

The newest Stella Quinn and Karly Lane have arrived, both are customer favorites! Also a row of books we haven’t had before that will be hitting the shelves today!

A new drop of Biggles has arrived!

Our in house plant has nearly died and I’m offering him up to a good loving home. He loves swing and jazz, but I tried everyone’s recommendations to keep him alive and thriving but I am not exactly a green thumb. Would prefer to see him off today otherwise, I’ll be eyeing off our red bin for tomorrow afternoon! 😓

Lastly, a rainbow is how I started my day so I share it with you!

These books are hitting the floor today, so first in, best dressed!

Some absolutely excellent reads through these piles; Shadow and Bone, The Au Pair Affair, Lessons in Chemistry, Charlotte’s Web, The Missing, and Beloved just to name a few!

Was stuck heading to the gym with no audiobook lined up so I decided Dungeon Crawler Carl book 3 would do. Although after this, I’m grabbing one off the shelf! No use listening to book I can’t then recommend and sell! 🤣 Well, aside from the enjoyment of it all!

An absolute sssssssstack of pulp scifi and fantasy have graced us with their presence and I’m hoping to find them all some good loving homes!

Also! Just finished Day of the Jackal and while the movie was good, as always the book is Better (with a capital B). While it has gripped me, I managed to savour it as best I could but with 30 mins left, I finished it while I priced up the stock this morning. I’m still unsure if it ended the way I really wanted it to, but it was a satisfying end nonetheless and an excellent read/listen!

Now… for my fantasy/scifi A-L read… HMMMMMmmmmmm… what to do, what to do… *eyes Dungeon Crawler Carl book 3* No, I must resist… If you need me, I’ll be in the stacks!

It’s Wednesday and your favorite book loving, bearded potato is in store while Sera is out! (assuming of course you know of no other book loving, bearded potatoes…)

I’m currently listening to Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth and it certainly starts off with a bang, but my only problem is he has huge info dumps between moments of action. While I can appreciate the background and the political intrigue, the long moments slow me down when I’m absolutely gripped by the Jackal’s character. Still though, I’m gripped!

Anyway, I’m making great progress at the bench… so back to it! Come in and see for yourself! -TJ
