How much does a brake actually matter on a stage castor?
We tested it on a drum riser, first with no brakes and then with the brakes on. One of these went for a lap around the loading dock and the other didn’t move an inch.

Why carry a full depth rack case for gear that’s only half as deep?
Our X Series shallow rack cases are made for the shorter units: wireless receivers, DI boxes, power conditioners and patch bays. How does a working drummer run his electronics when every gig is different?

Justin () plays with several artists. Some nights he's running a lot of gear, other nights almost nothing. His Titan AV X-Series 3 Rack Unit (3RU) Half Rack Case goes to every show.

Here's how he's set it up:

Your rack case should suit your rig. Here's how the X Series range works.
If you're a solo musician with a wireless system and a small mixer, a shallow 2RU or 3RU is light enough to carry in one hand. If you're a band carrying amps and processors, the full depth 4RU to 8RU cases stack neatly in the van and lock together so they don't slide around. If you're a crew running a big rack to every gig, the rolling 6RU to 10RU cases roll straight from the van to front of house.
They're all moulded from tough polypropylene, so they're lighter than ply but still shrug off knocks. Each one has steel rails front and back that take standard cage nuts and M6 screws.

A 750kg rating is a number on a page. We wanted to show what sits behind it.
So we took a standard 2x1m Titan AV stage platform, set it on 600mm legs and handed it to Alfa Test, an independent accredited lab in Queensland. They loaded the whole surface evenly and measured every step.
It passed 750kg without trouble and kept going. At 1,540kg, more than twice its rating, there was still no sign of stress. When the load came off, it went back to within half a millimetre of where it started.

Setting up the stage gets all the attention. Packing it down is where crews get worn out.
The Titan AV Stage Dolly takes up to 8 stage decks in one load. The carpet lined frame keeps them from scratching each other, the 8" rubber castors roll smoothly over concrete and carpet, and two brakes keep it still while you load. There's a push bar for steering through tight doors, and it folds down when it's not in use, so it won't hog the storeroom.

Our new 2m x 2m Drum Riser runs on six braked castors. Build it once, roll it into place and lock it down. No pulling it apart every time the room changes.

It’s rated to a 300kg Safe Working Load (SWL), so your full kit, throne and drummer fit comfortably. The non-slip deck keeps pedals and throne where you put them. You only need a 19mm and a 24mm spanner to set it up.

It suits live venues, rehearsal rooms, school halls and churches.
