The Truth About Hubs — After Building Thousands of Wheels

It’s always debatable which hubs are “the best”…
But after building hundreds — if not thousands — of wheels, one thing has stayed consistent for us:

DT Swiss hubs are the most reliable, most serviceable, and most durable hubs we’ve ever laced.

Sure, there are flashier, cooler‑looking hubs out there.
But cool doesn’t keep your wheel spinning after 20,000 km.
Engineering does.

When you pair: DT Swiss hubs x SAPIM CX‑Ray spokes x FNR rims...

…you get a wheelset that just refuses to die.
A wheelset you can ride for many, many thousands of kilometres with confidence.

Nothing Beats That “New Bike Feel”

There’s a special kind of joy when your bike gets a fresh touch — new bar tape, new tyres, new wheels. Suddenly every ride feels smoother, faster, and a little more exciting.

At FNR, we’re all about upgrades that actually make a difference:

FNR Wheels — still available on demand. Yes, the lead time is long… but the performance is worth every week of waiting.

Pirelli Tyres — a full range to suit every riding style, from fast bunchies to long endurance days.

Ciclovation Bar Tape — the easiest, cheapest upgrade for the biggest smile. Fresh look, fresh grip, fresh motivation.

If you’re thinking about refreshing your setup or want to know which upgrades will make your bike feel brand new again, chat with FNR. We’ll point you in the right direction.

Ride better. Ride happier. Ride FNR.

Another Titanium Masterpiece Rolling Out of FNR

Some builds just hit different — clean lines, smart choices, and components selected with purpose.

This one is running on FNR Custom Wheels, built with 35mm‑wide rims and Sapim spokes for the perfect balance of reliability, toughness, and all‑day performance.

But the magic doesn’t stop at the wheels. FNR supplied the full performance package:
FNR Custom Wheels — 35mm wide, Sapim‑laced, built for real‑world durability
SRAM RED Groupset — crisp, electronic precision
Ceramic Bottom Bracket — smoother spin, less drag
One‑piece Bar/Stem — clean cockpit, light and neat
FNR Titanium Seatpost — comfort and compliance in one
Repente Saddle — lightweight Italian comfort
Pirelli Tyres — grip, speed, and confidence
FNR Bottle Cages — secure, simple, titanium‑clean

A build like this isn’t just assembled — it’s curated. Every part chosen to make the ride feel solid.

If you want your next upgrade or full build to feel this dialed, you know where to find us.

ANNOUNCEMENT

After reviewing our recent sales and the current market trend, we’ve made the decision that FNR wheelsets will no longer be kept in stock. Sales have slowed over the past couple of months, and holding inventory that isn’t moving simply isn’t sustainable for a small, rider‑built brand like ours.

This doesn’t mean FNR wheels are gone — it just means we’ll organise them per order instead of stocking them on the shelf.

If you’d like to continue supporting us, we carry a strong range of wheel brands that suit every rider, every build, and every budget:

No.6 wheels — gaining popularity fast. Known for being light, affordable, and surprisingly quick.

Magene wheels — great value, with multiple profiles and widths to suit road and gravel setups.

DT Swiss wheels — the gold standard for reliability and toughness.

Campagnolo wheels — the perfect finishing touch for riders completing a full Campagnolo build.

Princeton wheels — if you want bling and performance, these are a standout choice.

Scope wheels — our most popular non‑FNR option. Affordable, fast, and well‑loved by many of our riders.

And beyond wheels, there are many other items you can purchase through us to help keep our small business afloat:

Pirelli tyres

RideNow TPU tubes

Ciclovation bar tapes

Carbon‑Ti finishing components

…and the list goes on.

Thank you for supporting FNR. Every purchase, every message, every recommendation helps keep a small Aussie cycling brand alive. We appreciate every rider who chooses to roll with us.

This recent FNR build hits different — not just because of the paint, but because of the memory behind it.

Inspired by Nike University Red, it brings back that era when MJ wasn’t just a player… he was the icon. The shoes, the swagger, the way he moved — all of that energy is now living on this frame. And honestly, Velocraft - Bikes absolutely nailed the finish. Clean lines, deep gloss, perfect colour balance. It’s one of those paints that looks fast even when the bike is standing still.

The build itself? Every component was chosen with intention — performance where it matters, personality where it counts. It’s the kind of bike that makes you stop mid‑ride just to admire it.

But here’s the fun part:
What’s your lifetime bike build?
Is it something nostalgic like this? Something ultra‑light? Something wild and experimental? Or maybe a dream machine you’ve been sketching in your head for years?

Tell me your version of the perfect build — the one you’d never sell, the one you’d keep forever.
Let’s see how creative the community gets.

Build Progress — FNR All Road 1.1 Size 54

The project is moving smoothly and the bike is finally taking shape.

We’ve now installed the full SRAM 2×12 AXS groupset — chosen for its perfect balance of price, performance, and weight. The shifting hardware sits beautifully against the titanium, and the red accents tie straight into the theme.

The Guee bottle cage slots in with the colour scheme like it was made for this frame. Small detail, big visual payoff.

A ceramic bottom bracket is now in place as well, matching the build’s aesthetic while adding that extra touch of smoothness and efficiency.

From here, the next steps are already lined up:
-New wheel build
-Bar tape
-Saddle

Once those are on, we’ll be ready for the full build photo — and this one is going to look special.

We’re brewing something special in the workshop again — this time, a custom‑painted FNR AR 1.1 that’s already turning heads before it’s even built.

The inspiration?
A pair of Nike University Red Hoops shoes.
Bold. Confident. Athletic. That unmistakable punch of red that refuses to blend in with anything around it.

So we took that energy and translated it into titanium.
The frame is still pure FNR at its core — precision‑welded, all‑road capable, and built to outlast trends — but now wrapped in a colourway that feels alive. Deep red panels, sharp black contrasts, and metallic accents that catch the light like a polished sneaker on hardwood.

Right now, it’s just the beginning: raw parts, fresh paint, and a vision.
But every great build starts with a spark, and this one has plenty.

If you want to follow the journey from concept to complete bike, keep an eye on our page. More updates, more photos, and more behind‑the‑scenes moments are coming as this AR 1.1 takes shape.
