When customers make beautiful things from our fabrics, we absolutely love seeing them come to life 💚

This dreamy Daisy Dress by .sews.things was made in our Lola Linen in Pine and honestly, we can’t stop looking at it. The vintage lace details, covered buttons and that beautiful soft drape all work together so perfectly.
The sunshine in these photos really highlights one of my favourite things about Lola Linen. It has a beautiful subtle sheen and you can almost see the fabric glistening, bringing out the richness and depth of the Pine colour.

One of the best parts of what we do is seeing how different makers take the same fabric and turn it into something completely their own.

Fields deserves a little shout-out.

This delicious Japanese wool check is one of those fabrics that just has everything. The colours, the texture, the handle... it’s beautiful.

We had a customer in the shop this week looking through our Japanese wool collection and she stopped and said, “Every single one of these is stunning. The quality is just perfection.”

Not to be biased, but I 100% agree.

I can’t take credit for creating these beautiful creatures, but I can take credit for bringing them to Perth so you can get your hands on them and turn them into whatever fabric dreams you’ve been plotting.

Last week the morning light in the shop was delightful and I had the place to myself, pottering away, so naturally I had to capture my latest make.

Yes, I have made another Snow Top, but this time I was chasing more of a vest vibe for the office as the days get cooler. I used our Vermont boiled wool in Toast and it is exactly what I had in mind.

The best part is it took me about an hour to make. There is something so satisfying about a quick project, especially when you’ve been deep in the trenches of shirt-making and buttonholes.

Now excuse me while I convince myself I don’t need one in every colour....

DOC Denim has arrived and I won’t lie, there is something very satisfying about seeing those perfectly wrapped 27m Japanese rolls sitting on the shelf.

This one has been worth the wait.

DOC is a textured twill weave denim from Japan with a surface print that creates a subtle contrast on the reverse. The printed colour softens and evolves with wash and wear, giving it the character and movement of a true indigo denim.

A proper heavyweight quality that is just begging to become jeans, jackets and skirts.

Produced in Japan and available for repeat ordering, which makes us very happy because I have a feeling this one is going to develop a few loyal fans 👏🏻👏🏻

As the days grow cooler, we’re finding inspiration in the art of layering. Not simply adding warmth, but thoughtfully combining texture, pattern and weight to create outfits with depth, interest and personality.

Soft brushed wools paired with classic checks. Fine corduroys layered alongside statement florals. Rich textures balanced with timeless neutrals. It’s these combinations that make getting dressed feel creative and considered.

Featuring from left to right
Mirabella, Dove denim, Calvin Black, Bonnie, Logan Pesto, Vermont Nutmeg, Calvin Natural!

We had a customer ask for some boiled wool pattern recommendations the other week, so we put together a little reel with a wee bit of inspiration...

One of the things I love most about boiled wool is that you can really make almost any pattern work. Because the edges don’t fray, you can get creative with finishes, leave edges raw, simplify construction and generally make sewing a whole lot easier.

1. Wren Jacket by in our Sophia wool
2. Florence Coat by in our Vermont boiled wool. I’ve made this coat three times now and it never disappoints.
3. London Sweater by in our Belhus Boiled Wool (and it’s a free pattern!)
4. Verona Jacket by Tessuti in our Highland wool

Have you sewn with boiled wool before? and what are your patterns you are loving...?

Winter dressing doesn’t always have to mean dark colours.

This week’s colour story explores pink in all its forms; from soft blush and dusty rose through to rich berry tones. Paired with charcoal, oat and warm neutrals, these shades feel sophisticated, modern and perfect for winter.

Featuring a mix of brushed checks, textured coatings, florals and elevated basics that prove winter colour can be both warm and wearable. 💗

There’s something special about discovering a brand right at the beginning; seeing the ideas, craftsmanship and personality behind the pieces before the rest of the world catches on.

Sheona first met while she was completing her Bachelor of Fashion Design at Curtin University. Each year, Potters sponsors two student prizes, with one recipient receiving access to wholesale pricing and guidance to help launch their own label. From the beginning, we could see Skye’s talent, creativity and clear design vision, and she was awarded the prize.

Just seven months later, she is officially launching her brand, and we couldn’t be more excited to share her journey.

This week, we’re introducing Skylan Studios, an emerging Perth label founded by designer Skylan, whose refined tailoring and thoughtful approach to design immediately caught our attention.

Working from her own studio and showroom space, Skylan creates collections that feel modern yet timeless, balancing sculptural silhouettes with soft femininity and beautiful fabrication. Her latest collection, Provenance, features our Sophia Winter Wool qualities in rich Chocolate and soft Ecru tones, chosen for their warmth, texture and luxurious hand feel.

We spoke with Skye about building her brand, her creative process, and the story behind Provenance. Read our newsletter to see all her responses ♥️

Dover denim in all its glory 💙

This is such a rich indigo blue, brighter than a classic indigo denim which usually leans more navy. Sometimes you just need to see a fabric on its own to appreciate the depth, texture and colour properly.

If you didn’t know, we stock a growing range of rope dyed denims and it has become one of our most loved denim categories.

Rope dyeing is recognised as one of the highest quality denim dyeing techniques due to the depth and consistency of colour achieved. The cotton yarn is twisted into ropes and repeatedly dipped into indigo, creating a dyed outer surface while the core remains white. This creates the beautiful “ring dyed” effect that gives denim its character and those classic fades over time.

I always find rope dyed denim has such a richness to it that is hard to replicate, especially in colours like this where the indigo almost glows in the light 💙
