Extract from my book reminiscing my childhood visits to the Royal Sydney Agricultural Show …
“I still have vivid memories of of the fruit and vegetable pavilion where the exhibitors created intricate pictures of landscapes with their produce. Celery became hedgerows, apples graded into colours became pastures and oranges made vivid sunsets. Carefully placed cherries became apples on trees and walnuts in rows made perfect garden paths. Each ‘artwork’ was edged with jar upon jar of preserved fruit, in beautiful mosaics of pretty patterns”
My love of preserving stems strongly from this memory.

This seasonal sowing guide for vegetables is something I’m very proud of. Just hang up the page for the season and you will see a page of all the vegetables you will need to get planting. The end pages have more information like soil conditions, companion planting , spacing and zones.

Possibly one of my favourite flowers but oh boy , picking a full ish bunch takes sooooo long. If someone gives you a bunch , hand picked, you know you are more than special! I love turning them into crystal jewels to decorate cakes. The recipe is on my blog ( just click on my bio). Also in my book.
