If you’re interested in this class send us a message and we can find a date

This is the one that started it all…the 5 Board Bench class was the first Grandfather Trade class we ran. Before we take a break we’ve got one last class running on the 27th June. $280 for the day, including lunch and lots of my bad jokes. Might even have a celebratory can or two at the end….

It breaks our hearts to write this, but we’ve made the difficult decision to close the shop doors for a while.

We’ve had an incredible run over the past five or so years. In that time, we’ve met so many wonderful people who’ve genuinely enriched our lives and made this journey far more meaningful than we ever expected. However, with the current economic climate, we’re at a point where continuing would mean risking everything we’ve worked so hard to build. We’ve invested too much in this to let it slip away, so we’re choosing to step back now — with all our bills paid and our heads held high.

Our hearts are especially heavy for our amazing staff — Kelly, Holley and Ned. We have been so privileged to have you working alongside us. You’ve made our lives better, and you’ve made the shop and workshop better in more ways than we can explain. We are so deeply sorry to have let you down. This is not at all what we had planned for 2026.

We’d also like to thank our wonderful teachers for sharing their passion and talents with us, and the hundreds of students who’ve walked through our doors over the years. And to everyone who has come through — whether you bought something, sold something, attended a class, or simply popped in for a wander — thank you. You’ve all played a part in making this place what it is, and we’ve truly been blessed to know you.

All booked classes will go ahead as planned, and we may still run the occasional class based on demand — so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

To our local suppliers who currently have products in store, please feel free to message us to discuss options before we close the doors.

We’ll continue creating our timber products and attending markets, and we hope that when the economic climate improves, we’ll be able to reopen the doors and welcome you back into our little slice of paradise.

We’re feeling very burnt out, a little embarrassed, and carrying a quiet sense of failure — but we know this is the right decision before the toll becomes any heavier, physically and mentally.

And to the small handful who told us we were idiots for even trying — we’re still proud we backed ourselves and gave it everything we had.

We’ll shut the doors for a while on Saturday 27th June.

Thank you for being part of our journey. This isn’t the end — just a pivot.

Cheers,
Scott and Beck
