The spiral is the age-old intuitive symbol of spiritual development and our identity with the universe. It is found in cultures the world over and reflected in shamanism, serpent cults, dragon lore, geomancy, magic, mysticism and ritual art and dance throughout history.
As ‘re-volution’ or ‘re-evolution’, the spiral progression is symbolic of the transpersonal route to that higher level of consciousness which is sought by all esoteric and occult systems. Paralleling these inner movements of the psyche which indicate the transformative and the integrative are movements in physical space: the vortex, or involution, representing an opening or re-awakening; the circumambulatory, as utilised in mazes and labyrinths; and oscillation, the movement back and forth between dualities. The circumambulatory and oscillative suggest the mandala, a symbol of wholeness, while the spiral and the vortex point to dynamic growth and metamorphosis. The archetypal image of the spiral came to render itself in the idea of a path that could be climbed in stages to reach God, a notion fundamental to both the Kabbalah and exponents of magic down the centuries, and made concrete in the three- and two-dimensional initiatory mazes which existed in antiquity.

Women and children standing with arms linked around trees, hugging them, holding each other’s hands. This scene took place in a village in Uttar Pradesh in 1973, now Uttarakhand, where the modern Chipko Movement was birthed. This was the strongest form of resistance against rampant cutting of trees, where people asserted their rights vowing to protect the natural environment. This was a collective protest that the rural folk undertook, based on Gandhian principles of non-violence and a concerted effort to halt the ravaging of the forests in the foothills of the Himalayas. The uprising against felling trees and in support of maintaining the ecological balance originated in Chamoli district and spilled into other states in north India. The name ‘Chipko’ comes from the word ‘embrace’, as the villagers hugged the trees preventing them from being cut down.
When lumbermen went to cut the trees in Reni, villagers came together to protest. A local girl rushed to inform the head of the village. Gaura Devi led 27 of the village women to the site and confronted the loggers. Conflict occurred when talks between the two groups failed. The women, in a peaceful protest, resorted to hugging the trees to stop them from being felled. The women kept an all-night vigil guarding the tress from the cutters until unable to do anything, they left the village. News of the resistance spread like wildfire to nearby villagers and the movement spread. News reached the state chief minister who set up a committee that eventually, ruled in favour of the villagers. This became a turning point in the history of eco-development struggles in the region and around the world. @ Coven Shoppe

The Leo Super Blood Moon Total Lunar Eclipse bringing powerful feelings of culmination, release, and rebirth. Life could feel particularly edgy as we wrap up an acute two-week period of accelerated change and karmic ripening. We might create gentle space for ourselves now to integrate and process before leaping ahead. A Supermoon is a Full Moon that falls particularly close to earth, while a Lunar Eclipse is an intensified Full Moon. Energies are high, and we could find ourselves at a breaking point. Uranus in Aries is squaring the Leo Lunar Eclipse, so unexpected events could occur that feel especially dramatic, changing the courses of our lives. It’s important now to call on our patience, returning to stillness before making radical decisions. We can also trust that whatever happens is in alignment with our soul’s evolution. While we may feel overwhelmed by intensity or uncertainty now, the key is to reconnect with our deepest needs, feelings, and desires. What people, places, and activities most expand our hearts? This is the last Leo eclipse in a cycle that began in February 2017, so we can think back to that time and consider what we started then that we’re now completing. We could feel a sense of resolution as we graduate from a two-year cycle of growth and release. How will we move forward offering our talents, creativity, and self-expression to the world in meaningful ways?At the same time, we might consider what’s been holding us back that is now ready for release. The planets are now giving us a big push to abandon old habits, conditioning, and contracts that no longer serve us so we can create new ones, better aligned with our joy. It may not feel easy, clear, or stable—Uranus is squaring the Nodes, as well as the Sun and Moon. But the planets are ensuring that we quickly rectify our footing, doing away with unnecessary heaviness, duties, pressures, and depression as we reorient our lives Words via 🖤

Today is auspicious. With the Full Moon in Cancer and a Solstice in the same twenty four hour period, we can release all of the stagnant emotion that lingers from the events of our year to this watery maternal Moon and then stand fixed with Sol (Solstice = Sun standing still) and ask for his radiance to permeate our field and activate our own solar core so that we too can radiate our own unique flavour out in to the world and the new year ahead.
The Solstice portal is open and regardless of your hemisphere, today we experience the fullness of light or the fullness of dark and yet Earth as a whole experiences both extremes in perfect balance - as she always does - a conduit of the balanced interplay between light and dark. It is us, tied in to our particular geographic location that has the relative experience of one over the other, yet from a broader perspective, the two are always in harmonic union. To try and live in the light only and ignore your darkness is missing the point and missing a multitude of growth opportunities, to live in your shadows and pain and reject the transformative powers of your own inner light also misses the point and both options are weak. We are all fallible and we are all beautiful, simultaneously.
Stand in the light today and stand in the darkness today, both are your teachers. The more you can dance between the two and embrace the expanse of life, the more you can release and transform and become more of who you are. The more you dive in to your own depths AND in to your own radiance, the greater your emotional spectrum becomes, the greater your self knowledge becomes, the greater your fearlessness becomes.
Move and clear what needs to go today and also feel your own light source today, let it fill up your core. This is an auspicious day of filtering the waters/emotions in your own cup and then drinking in your own frequency. Words 🖤

“Become conscious of being conscious. Say or think “I am”, and add nothing to it. Be aware of the stillness that follows the “I am”. Sense your presence, the naked unveiled, unclothed beingness. It is untouched by young or old, rich or poor, good or bad, or any other attributes. It is the spacious womb of all creation, all form.” Ramana Maharshi. Maha Sambodhi Dharma Sangha Guru, who, at 16 years of age, meditated without moving, for nine months.

'Grass' by Joyce Sidman
'I grow in places
others can’t,

where wind is high
and water scant.

I drink the rain,
I eat the sun;

before the prairie winds
I run.

I see, I sprout,
I grow, I creep,

and in the ice
and snow, I sleep.

On steppe or veld
or pampas dry,

beneath the grand,
enormous sky,

I make my humble,
bladed bed.

And where there’s level ground,
I spread.' From the novel; Ubiquitous: Celebrating Nature’s Survivors. Image source unknown.

Self Care Rituals. “I try to work in a quick abhyanga a few times a week. Standing in the shower, before I turn the water on, with a cup of warmed sesame oil (not toasted) I spend ten minutes on self-massage using circular movement toward my heart. I then use a chickpea flour to scrub my body in the shower. It’s a practice that sweetly nourishes and soothes the nerves, helps with lymphatic circulation, and makes for the loveliest soft and flushed skin.” Amanda Chantal Bacon, MindBodyGreen, Jan 16. New Moon in Sagittarius: Opening to Possibilities. 'This New Moon is marking a powerful moment of manifestation. Expansive Jupiter forms a conjunction with the Moon, bestowing us with gold light and good fortune. Now is the perfect time to set intentions for the coming year. We’re looking to the sky, releasing limiting beliefs that still hold us back from our truest potentials. We’re calling in the highest versions of ourselves, our relationships, and all aspects of our lives—understanding that anything is possible if we can break free of fear, addictions, and self-defeatism.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Where are we still telling ourselves that we’re unworthy or crazy? That our dreams are impossible to manifest? How are we still filling our voids, rather than approaching situations from wholeness and peace? This New Moon is helping us claim what’s rightfully ours, while anchoring to our stillness, true power, and quiet resolve.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s been a long year of trekking Scorpio’s underworld, confronting our deepest fears and wounds, and noticing where our grips have been too tight. With Jupiter in Sagittarius, and Uranus squaring the nodes, we can now let go, allowing infinite possibilities to take root and grow. Our future begins in our own hearts and perception, and if we can open and relax, our horizons are ready to broaden. We first need to release our stubbornness and closed-mindedness—anywhere we’ve clung to our beliefs with too much rigidity and dogma.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mercury stations direction on the day of this New Moon, exiting his shadow period by December 24. We’re now culminating a six month period of retrogrades after working through deeply engrained patterns around love, s*x, communication, values, and power. With Chiron in Pisces trining Mercury, we can be honest with one another as we step into healing, forgiveness, and unconditional love. Now is the time to resolve our differences...' Read more via
