Back to the drawing board… literally 💜

My daughter asked for a new pencil case, but the first design just didn’t work the way she wanted it to.

So today I started again and made another one from PVC Ultramesh in Blossom.

Much better — and most importantly, she loves it (I hope)!

So today I made this one using PVC Ultramesh in the colour Blossom — simple, durable and perfect for school.

Safe to say she’s very happy with it 💜

A Special Order Ready to Head to NSW 📦

Seven of my upcycled feedbag shopping bags are all finished and ready to travel tomorrow to Tracey in Jordan Springs, NSW.

Every bag is made from a different feed bag, so no two are ever quite the same. That’s one of the things I love most about making them — the images, colours and designs are always a little surprise as they come together.

This order includes some beautiful prints. It never gets old seeing these bags made here at Mount Prospect and then heading off to new homes around Australia.

Tracey — your parcel will be on its way tomorrow. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them. 😊

When “reinforced” doesn’t last two weeks…

Yesterday’s rug repair took me right back to the days when Leisa’s Custom Creations was in full swing behind the sewing machine.

This rug is only two weeks old, and the “reinforced” shoulder gusset seam had already come apart.

Rather than see a nearly new rug go to waste, I put it under the machine and stitched the seam properly so it should now stand up to real paddock life.

Synthetic fabric and binding like this takes a bit of patience, strong thread and a machine that can handle the job — but it’s always satisfying bringing something back to life.

Sometimes the simplest repair is all it takes to keep something useful going for many more seasons. 🧵

Back in 2022, I was asked to custom make two heavy-duty canvas tool carriers.

The exact dimensions were provided, and I designed and made them specifically to suit the job they were needed for.

Recently one of those original carriers came back to me — not because it had failed, but because he wanted two more made exactly the same.

It’s always a good sign when something you’ve made proves itself in real use. The originals have done their job so well that he’s now using the second one from 2022 and keeping two brand new ones as backups ready to go.

There’s something pretty satisfying about making gear that people trust enough to keep coming back for.

From Old Bicycle Tube to Glasses Sleeve

I had a box of old bicycle inner tubes sitting here and decided to experiment a little…

So I made myself a simple glasses sleeve from one of them.

What I love about it is the rubber grips the frames slightly, so my glasses don’t slide out of the case like they sometimes do with fabric ones.

It’s also surprisingly durable and waterproof — and I like that you can still see the original tube markings through the design. The tube size marking even shows through which I think is a bit fun.

Just a little upcycling experiment for my own glasses. I’m always curious to see what materials can be turned into something useful. 😊

💚 Still Going Strong After 8 Years!

One of my lovely long-time customers, Marie, shared this photo yesterday of my bags that are around 8 years old and still going strong!

This bag has been used for Scouts — which just shows how tough these upcycled feedbag bags really are.

Seeing my handmade creations still being used years later is something I’m incredibly proud of.

Thank you so much for sharing this Marie — and for supporting my little rural business for so many years 💚
