I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, we LOVE play-dough ❤️

We made this play-dough using the incredible Eco Art and Craft Playdough Powder.

I love making play-dough because it’s an activity in itself. We talk about the measurements, and count them out together, the kids love to mix it all together and knead it until it is so incredibly soft and smooth it feels like i could fall asleep on it!

This is our 1yo using the playdough kit.
The stampers are easy to grip and manoeuvre for little hands, the nails encourage the pincher grip, and the hammer and rolling pin for hand- eye coordination.

So not only is it fun, but it’s great for their development 👏🏼❤️

Maths 🧮

Lately our 5yo has become really keen to learn how to do addition.

We use the incredible double sided maths board (it comes with the wooden number tiles and counting discs!) to help her with basic addition.

She loves that she can do it independently and the satisfaction she gets when she gets it right is so thrilling to watch 😍

Volcanos 🌋

We used red paint powder, and mixed it with some water and bicarb soda in a glass jar.

We then built our volcano out of dirt and wood chips

Then poured vinegar in and watched it erupt over and over.

This is a simple activity that can be done at home. We already had all the tools and ingredients at home for this one.

It is a great activity to discuss measurements (we talked about 1/2 cup/ 1 teaspoon etc) and addition of the different parts to do some basic maths and counting. We also talked about why it doesn’t react and erupt until the vinegar is added.

We also have ‘make your own volcano kits’ for those who prefer to do this activity inside/ dont have access to a garden / those horrible rainy days or just because they are really fun to make 💚

And the best bit, you will have leftover slime, fizz and paint to use for other craft activities 💚

Our dried paper is off in our homemade envelope to hopefully brighten a special someones day 🥰

This week we will be making Seed paper using our Poppy & Daisy Designs paper making kit 🥰

Instead of adding flowers we will be sprinkling seeds onto our paper so our little ones can then plant the paper out and watch it grow ♻️🌱🌿

Paper Making Time !

I purchased this kit for my older daughter long before I started This is MIA.

Its one of the products that made me fall in love with Poppy & Daisy Designs.

We use our drawings / shopping lists/ any random used paper we happen to have at the time, and flowers we pick from our garden and on walks to make beautiful cards and letters for people we love.

Today we made paper to write letters to my Nan. My daughter has been wanting to make something to send her as she recently had a birthday. This was a special gift we decided to make out of her old drawing and flowers from the garden that we dried together.

I love that we got to create something so beautiful and special. And I get to teach her about recycling and the importance of choosing things we can reuse or recycle ♻️ at the same time.
By being involved in the process of turning something old in to something new it really helps her understand the idea of recycling.

We cant wait to dry these and send them off to her ‘Gran Nan’.

Do you love playdough?
We LOVE playdough!

I love to see how our girls use it, sometimes it will be cake/ coffee/ soup in their shop.
Other times they will roll, squish and manipulate it into all sorts of shapes and patterns.
They use it to spell their names, make pictures, roll and cut it out for cookies, or add objects to create art.
I love to see the ways they think of to use it.

Mindful Monday 🧘🏻‍♀️

Do you practice mindfulness?

We have been working to incorporate mindfulness into our daily routines.
Each night we are practicing our breathing (with the use of breathing cards, or hand breaths) and selecting an affirmation from our Poppy & Daisy Designs Mindful Moments set to repeat before bed, then placing it above our 5yo’s bed. It allows us to sit together and calm while sending out the good vibes and positivity.
