With all the distressing news about varroa mite and severe bee loss affecting our industry, we thought we’d share something light. For just a moment let’s take a breath and reflect on the positivity of Hattie Mann’s watercolour. Hattie is 11, she doesn’t know about varroa mite and the concern it’s causing every Australian beekeeper, she just painted this for fun and her mum gave it to me. I pinned it to the door of our honey shed, just as a reminder to keep it simple; Bees, flowers, rainbows. This will not console many, concerned for the future of their business; but we know you’ll work hard, no matter what, because you feel the need to keep going. This is just a reminder to pause and take a breath.
