Food & our environment 🥗
What does food have to do with a sustainable environment?
LOTS! Our food directly affects the planet through a number of factors;
Food production: We know that animal agriculture (consuming meat) is a leading contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing your meat consumption & increasing your plant consumption is the best way to reduce the impact.
Food production: Buy local produce or goods manufactured locally rather than from overseas. Food is transported around the world by sea, accounting for 33% of global carbon dioxide emissions.
Food waste: buy what you need, store food appropriately & compost any waste. Food waste sent to landfill emits methane, contributing to global emissions. Composting your scraps is an extremely beneficial process for the environment.
One small swap has a huge impact!
