The best laid plans of mice and men.....
Well after a 12th hour "mix up"with the landlord and the new tenant CBD Cycles will continue to trade for another month bringing the end date to 28th February... .... which just happens to be my birthday.
I'm slowly getting around to replying to all beautiful memories and well wishers and look forward to concentrating on my health for a while in March.
I'd love to see some more stock go out the door in Feb' so if you want a bargain bike or parts and accessories then the time to act is NOW.

Well after 21 years of CBD Cycles in the city my health has finally caught up with me and it's time to let a new owner put all his energy into the task of providing a top quality bike store at the Paris end of the city. Over the years CBD Cycles has help produce 3 Australian Cycling champs, numerous top ten elite finishes at Ironman Australia. Several world IM age group champs and local Gatorade Elite champs and hundreds of Australian reps at world champs. I'd like to thank all my advocated and supporters throughout the years. Business doesn't work without great suppliers and none have been better than Darren and Giant who always believed in me. I've had some very loyal workers over the years and would like to thank David Kaye for his tireless efforts and Tanya for keeping me on the straight and narrow. I've had so many great mechanics over the years and like to thank my best Matt, Dave, Nick, Nick Bec, Jono, Bayden, Lachie, Steve, Shaun, Dan and Cam for the support and care taken.
Of course non of this would be possible without the support of my family and friends who have always been there for me. Jodie and Aris have been a huge part of why I have been a small business owner. It's given me the flexibility to spend time with my son growing up and Jodie has always been there with unconditional support. My clothing supplier Glenn from Australian made Cannibal has always cared more about me than he has his bottom line. He is a great friend and epitomizes so many friends I have made through the store.
I've loved having the store in the city and being involved in supporting so many great athletes and commuters alike.I need to take time now to get better but still want to keep my hand in with the industry. I loved my time as mechanic for the Australian team at so many world champs around the world and at local races. I plan to continue to do select mechanical work for clients from home. Keep an eye on social media and the website for more details.
The last day of CBD cycles in the city is January 19th so there is a lot of selling to do in the next couple of weeks....all stock has to go! Come in if you want to buy something or see you in February for a coffee and a catch up.

One of my favorite Giant Athletes will be tearing it up in Hawaii tomorrow morning. With blue blood coursing through his veins Tim Berkel will be one of the top athletes challenging to put his name into infamy winning the race of races.
In what could be the most favorable conditions in ages with light winds and cloudy with showers predicted we might even see a new course record taken in what will no doubt be very close head to head racing. Yes the return of Ironwars!
Naturally CBD Cycles has a plethora of athletes flying the flag in Kona again this year with the ever green Rob Hill leading the way. We wish all our great mates a fantastic race and looking forward to reading your race reports.
To all Aussies....Go Be-zerk-el, and have a fabulous day.

It's released today at Hawaii Ironman, The new Cervelo P5X. This is the first true release of a tri bike by Cervelo in over 20 years that hasn't tried to conform to stringent UCI rules regarding what is allowed to be used in bike racing such as Tour de France. What that means is this is a no compromise aero machine that cheats the wind using the very latest technology and best design principles. Will it be fast? YUP. will it attract attention? YUP. Will you want one.....YUP....if making up a few minutes is going to be the difference between winning your age group of not winning.
Will it be expensive? ....YUP.
This bike closely resembles what Phil White and Gerard Vrooman first Created as the fastest bike on the planet in concept when they were uni students. The front lower rear wheel fairing is one of the key concepts of the new Cervelo P5-X. This increases the wheel speed in the lower half of the wheel giving the bike :) free speed" .There is also the added benefit of plenty of storage in the two lower compartments for and the "extras" that are strapped onto a bike when in race mode. All these "strap ons" are creating resistance and slowing the bike down when you are racing. But thats enough P5 s*X talk.... This bike is set up with SRAM Etap as we all wait for the new Shimano Dura Ace to be released. Braking is on this image "cable" disc brakes....but I'm sure these will be hydraulic before you know it, most likely incorporating Di2 shift buttons right into the brake lever as well as at the end of the aero bars. The handlebars are by Cervelo and these alone will be the fastest bars available in the market place. ENVE wheels have been chosen for a reason here. Cervelo rate them as being as fast as available and most importantly wide enough to work with the front wheel fairing. 9yes wider is faster than skinny with wheels. The current P5 will remain in the Triathlon line up offered by Cervelo for the traditionalist, but if you want to go really fast then this will be the way to go. Cervelo..... simply faster.
