Our Story
Ambr Designs. Just a mermaid dreaming big. Ambr Designs is known for its vibrant and unique prints created by Mornington Peninsula local - Emma Shanahan. Emma is a Textile designer who strives to create beautiful active and swim wear. Launched in 2016, Ambr Designs started as 400 circle towels in the family garage. Since then the Ambr range has grown to 4 collections, including a variety of different garments, styles, colours and designs. All ranges are inspired by the beach and the magical landscapes that surround the Mornington Peninsula. The Brand; Ambr is suitable for all occasions. Our pieces are made out of 87% Recycled Polyester, 12% Spandex and 1% Magic. So yes these garments are perfect for the beach, the gym, the dance studio or just hanging out drinking milkshakes in. All crop tops have removable padding and all bottoms are reversible. All designs are hand painted - so these patterns are never seen before. The Girl behind the Brand; Emma completed her Bachelor of Arts in Textile Designs at Melbourne’s RMIT University in 2015. After leaving design school Emma studied an additional 2 years to complete her Masters in Education at Monash University. Because why not? A few more pieces of paper never hurt anyone. Emma currently works as a design teacher, a dance instructor and a budding freelance designer. Fostering all her loves in one absolutely chaotic lifestyle. She wouldn't change it for the world. #sleepnever Emma’s experimental style of work has developed over the past 6 years. Working with a wide variety of mediums including, hand drawn designs, water paints, resin art, textiles, embellishments and costume designs.
Emma’s skills with colour, prints, illustration and patterns are original and fresh, forever challenging herself to create unique works of art. Emma strives to design bright, unique, organic and eye catching pieces, using a variety of mediums.
