Good Riddance Insect Repellent is a natural, DEET-free insect repellent designed to get you back outside, without the nasty chemicals and the pesky bites! Our cosmetic chemist, Jeannie Lynch, developed the Good Riddance Insect Repellent range to protect her family from the bites while living in tropical Darwin. She was concerned about the toxic effects

of conventional insect repellents so decided to research and develop a natural alternative. There aren’t many insect repellent creams out there, but there’s a reason why we decided to do things a little differently! Our insect repellent cream base is rich with shea butter and beeswax. This helps prevent the essential oils from evaporating so you don’t need to reapply as often. It also provides a physical barrier against those pesky midges and sandflies! Our flagship product, Good Riddance Tropical contains a blend of essential oil actives that give it a fresh, vibrant citrus aroma with a woody undertone and notes of Australian natives. Following the success of our Tropical range, we developed the Good Riddance Sensitive range as a safe, natural insect repellent for babies, pregnant women and people with sensitive skin. Good Riddance Sensitive is the only insect repellent on the market specifically designed for sensitive skin. This unique product has a fresh, sweet floral aroma with herbaceous base notes and a hint of vanilla. Best of all, our entire range was developed in conjunction with Top End fishermen, which means it has been tested in some of the toughest conditions in Australia, including Kakadu and Shady Camp. But that wasn't enough - we wanted to prove that our product could stand up against any DEET-filled product on the market. In 2018 we began the lengthy process of having our insect repellents registered with the APVMA. This process included extensive clinical testing in the lab and the field to ensure the products worked, were safe to use and were shelf stable. In 2020, both the Good Riddance Tropical and Sensitive ranges were approved for sale in Australia as insect repellents. The Good Riddance range also includes our Rescue Balm - the perfect handy little helper for when the bugs catch you by surprise! This easy to apply balm has antibacterial properties and is designed to soothe insect bites, cuts, scrapes and other skin irritations. The base of the balm is rich with vitamin E to promote skin repair. And for those looking to scent their homes naturally, our Good Riddance Tropical essential oils are available as a 100% pure essential oil blend and natural soy & coconut wax candles. Ever wondered who the brains behind our Good Riddance Insect Repellents are? Meet Sean!

Just like any great dad, Sean’s our jack of all trades, but he’s mastered the art of making insect repellent. You might’ve met him at one of our events or at the Darwin markets a decade ago. Now, he’s happily behind the scenes.

Before repelling bugs, Sean spent 15 years as the Process Engineer for some of Australia’s finest sugar at Bundaberg Sugar. Today, he’s the genius behind our in-house production. He’s also got a love for automating the office & upgrading our lab with new tech, like our bottling machines.

Did you know that by packaging our repellent in tubes, we have halved the weight of plastic packaging we use compared to other repellents packaged in pump bottles or roll ons?

While we'd love to go completely plastic free with our products, it's also important that they are packaged in a material that won't react with the cream while also keeping it away from light and air, and being durable enough to be carried around with you (unlike glass). Choosing to package our products in tubes was one decision we made to help minimise our impact where we can.

We have also sourced our packaging from an Australian packaging supplier who is able to provide us with tubes that biodegrade if they end up in landfill. That means our tubes can be recycled in your household recycling bin, but if they end up in a landfill, they are designed to break down in less than 10 years, without creating microplastics. During manufacturing, a natural additive is mixed in with the plastic. This additive attracts bacteria that naturally occur in landfills and allows them to begin digesting the plastic.

It's one step we are taking now to help minimise our impact but we are always on the lookout for ways we could do even better!
