The world around us finds its way into what we make.

For nomadic weavers, it might be the animals they live with, the colours of the sky, or a landscape they know by heart. These things become part of the rug, not as a copy of nature, but as a way of carrying a little of it with them.

In the next slides, a few rugs and Gabbehs inspired by this way of seeing.

Bold in colour, rhythmic in design, and rich with the character of handwoven craft, this Hamadan rug carries a striking sense of movement. Its repeating forms draw the eye along the length, bringing warmth, rhythm, and a quiet sense of presence to the space.

One of the things we love about this photograph is what sits in the background. These Qashqai kilims, photographed during a celebration in Fars Province, Iran, were never woven simply to be admired. They were made to create a home inside nomadic tents, to welcome guests, and to become part of gatherings like this. Their bold geometry and rich colours have accompanied generations of Qashqai families through everyday life and life's most meaningful moments. In the following slides, we've selected a few kilims from our collection that continue this weaving tradition.
