Spring has sprung! 🍃

Usually flowers are in the spotlight when it comes down to wedding decorations. Foliage and greenery are usually forgotten 😢

If you're budget conscious, in most cases, it is more cost-effective to incorporate greenery into your flower arrangement. Pictured here are monstera leaves, cordyline, and areca palms with ivy, and eucalyptus. You only need a couple of each to make a big statement and fill the space. Mix it with a handful of baby's breaths to make it "softer" or a few snapdragons to make it more exotic. Cordyline also comes in a gorgeous vibrant beetroot-ish colour if you'd like to incorporate some colour into the mix.

Inviting kids to your wedding? Not sure how to keep them occupied?

The good news is that kids have a lot of imagination, they don't need much to be kept busy (as long as there's food!). Providing disposable cameras for their "I Spy" treasure hunt is a great idea, especially if you're getting married in a farm, barn, country, wineries, beach, somewhere that has a lot of space and land. Plus, it's more photos for you (or the parents) to develop later on as memories of the day (guarantee, some of these results will be hilarious!).

Not sure how to ask your parents for contribution? 💸 💸 🤔

An extract from our ever so helpful journal;

1. Be Specific - You could ask them to cover a particular part of the costs. For example, you could ask them to cover the costs of the photographer and ask them to help you with researching options, type of photographs are needed, etc. They would love to be a part of the process!

2. Be Indirect - Instead of asking specifically, you could ask how they would like to be involved in your wedding journey and let them make the suggestion.

3. Entire Wedding - if you are comfortable to ask, ask if they are planning to pay for the entire wedding and if so, what is their budget. STICK to that budget, bee grateful. If you want extras, try to save for them yourself.

Remember..! - Demanding will get you nowhere ❌
Ensure everyone is clear on their role and also what their expectations are. If your parents are looking to pay for the entire wedding, one of the risk is that they may want to have more input in the process.

Lockdown sucks, we get it! 😩

Whilst it's easy to get caught up with the down side of things, focus on the positive things!

Ideally you would've booked / bought;
- a wedding planner, venue, caterer (if not provided by venue), photographer and videographer, and a celebrant 12 months prior to your wedding day
- on-the-day coordinator and styler, wedding entertainment (band / DJ / others), wedding dress 8 - 11 months prior to your wedding day
- more info provided in our journal!

If you're 1 - 2 weeks out from your wedding day, don't panic! Touch base with your local vendors how quickly they are able to re-mobilise and/or any available alternate date for worst-case scenario. The sooner you do this, the sooner you're able to be in control again.

For brides and grooms that are still waiting for RSVPs, don't be disheartened if you don't get all of them back by the RSVP date. These things happen, it's nothing personal!

It is a pain but make sure you don't discount them straight away, kindly ask the guests who have yet to RSVP to formally RSVP to you so you can make sure they will be catered for (give another week's timeline). Perhaps you can jokingly say to bring their own chair and sandwich if they still forgot to RSVP!

🍬 🚫. Not a fan of sweet things? Or perhaps you're looking for something a bit different?

🧀 🍇. Cheese wheels are great alternatives to traditional wedding cakes, decorate them with an abundance of fruits to create some contrast with the colours.

If you'd like to do a DIY cheese wheel, make sure you always place the "softest" cheese at the top! Especially when your wedding is during the warmer months, these will melt relatively quickly.

If the cheese wheels are being delivered by a supplier on your wedding day, make sure you co-ordinate the time of delivery and ask your venue to ensure they have space to store them in their kitchen fridge until around 10 - 15 minutes before you need to cut them.
