π¨ Gelball & Skirmish in Australia Is on the Line
Under Schedule 6, Part 2, Item 14B (Skirmish Markers) of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations 1956, gelball blasters are being treated as fi****ms for import purposes. This change appears to have been introduced without meaningful consultation with the industry or community.
Important:
This does NOT affect players or ownership in Queensland.
However, it does impact the importation of items that are considered substantially the same in appearance as a fully automatic firearm.
While this might not sound significant at first, these items are the most commonly used equipment in the sport and hobby. Restricting their import threatens the future growth and sustainability of the gelball and skirmish community.
This issue is about more than just a hobby. It impacts:
β’ Mental health and wellbeing for many participants
β’ A legitimate and growing sport
β’ Small Australian businesses and local jobs
β’ Retailers, fields and industry operators
β’ The Australian film and creative industries (props, cosplay and movie production)
If we stay silent, the industry disappears quietly.
If we act β respectfully and in numbers β politicians take notice.

Subject: Schedule 6, Part 2, Item 14B β Immediate Review Requested
Dear [MP or Senator Name],
I am writing as your constituent in [Electorate].
The classification of gelball blasters and skirmish markers under Schedule 6, Part 2, Item 14B is deeply concerning.
This decision appears to have been made without meaningful consultation and threatens a legitimate sport, small businesses, jobs, and an important mental health outlet for many Australians.
This issue will influence my vote.
I respectfully ask that you advocate for proper stakeholder consultation and a review of this classification.
I look forward to your response.
Kind regards,
[Your Name]
