Is it a "Damper" or a "Dampener"? Let's settle the debate.

A "dampener" makes things wet—like a soggy Tasmanian downpour or a wet sponge.

A "damper" absorbs kinetic energy. It's the mechanical wizardry inside your fork, and it’s exactly what the Pademelon CS.1 does to eliminate that harsh, pingy feedback through your handlebars.

When your front wheel deflects laterally off a high-speed rock, our hydraulic rotary vane system steps in to filter the noise so you can ride with a supple grip instead of tensing up.

Leave the dampening to the weather. Put our steering damper to work risk-free for 45 days under the Pademelon Trail Test guarantee.

By the time you feel a root deflecting your front wheel, your reflexes are already too late.

It takes your brain about 340 milliseconds to process an unexpected hit and tell your hands to react. At speed, that brief delay translates to an entire bike length down the trail where you are essentially just a passenger.

The Pademelon CS.1 doesn't wait for your nervous system to catch up. Its hydraulic rotary vane system reacts instantly, absorbing lateral trail chatter and filtering out the sharp, high-velocity deflections before they throw you off course.

By letting the damper stabilize the front end, you can stop over-gripping the bars, eliminate severe arm pump, and maintain a light touch to focus entirely on your line choice. Test it risk-free on your local trails with our 45-day Pademelon Trail Test. Link in bio for details.

Spill a pint on a bar and you've successfully dampened it. Hit a rock garden at speed and you need damping.

Let’s settle a classic trailhead debate while looking at this side-by-side clip. In engineering, to damp means to reduce the amplitude of a physical oscillation. To dampen simply means to get something wet.

For the first time, look at the CS.1 side-by-side. On the un-damped frame, the front wheel deflects downhill, losing traction and causing the rear end to step out. You're forced to constantly micro-manage the bike just to try and stay on line.

With the CS.1 active, both wheels track straight. The internal hydraulic system isolates the cockpit, filtering out high-velocity trail chatter before it ever reaches your hands so you can hold your line with confidence.

Unless you’re spilling a water bottle on your stem, leave the dampening to the weather. The CS.1 is strictly built for precision damping.

Put it to the test on your own local tracks with our 45-day Pademelon Trail Test. Available now at pademelon.cc.

The storm grey corduroy is here, and like the walnut, it won’t be a permanent fixture.

Our walnut drop was a one-time run that sold out faster than we anticipated. We don’t typically do massive restocks; we prefer to do new stuff instead. This storm grey version follows that same limited-run philosophy. Once this batch is gone, we’re moving on to the next development.

Your drivetrain might be wearing out from the bottom up.

Chain slap is often viewed strictly as a noise problem, but the mechanical cost is high. When the chain flops during high-speed descents, it often fails to re-align with the chainring teeth as it moves back into position. This causes the specific wear pattern seen in this ring, where the lower teeth are ground down prematurely while the rest of the ring shows normal wear.

We developed the SIDE QUEST Under Guide to control this chain deflection. By preventing the chain from dropping away from the bottom of the ring, we ensure it stays indexed and engages the teeth cleanly every time. It results in a quieter ride and a significant increase in the lifespan of your expensive 12-speed chainrings.

Designed for OneUp ISCG 05 guides and available for 30t or 32t options. 3D printed in Tasmania and ready to ship from the SIDE QUEST collection at pademelon.cc.

"The best part you never thought about buying."

The crew at Australian Mountain Bike Magazine just wrapped up a long-term test of the CS.1, concluding that it "transformed the bike into a rocket on rails." They found that the "stability and energy conservation are impressive," especially during those late-day descents when fatigue normally compromises your line choice. By using a hydraulic rotary vane system to manage steering deflection, the CS.1 filters out the trail noise that usually travels straight into your hands and arms.

We built the CS.1 to provide the tracking and confidence needed to stay precise on technical terrain. The reviewer noted they "regret not considering the Pademelon sooner" as part of their talent-booster kit. It is about reducing the physical tax of riding, allowing you to stay fresher for longer. Hand-built in Tasmania, this damper ensures that when the trail tries to knock you off line, the bike stays composed and predictable.

Arm pump isn't a fitness problem; it is a physics problem. When your front wheel pings off a square-edge rock or a root, your brain forces your hands to over-grip to maintain control. This spike in tension restricts blood flow, leading to that rock-hard forearm feeling and a total loss of precision.

The CS.1 steering damper acts as a high-frequency filter for your cockpit. By absorbing lateral deflections instantly through its hydraulic rotary vane system, it allows you to maintain a light touch on the bars even when the trail is trying to rip them out of your hands. You stop fighting the bike and start focusing on your line.

It is about riding with a supple grip so your strength lasts until the bottom of the hill. Hand-built in Tasmania to help you ride longer, faster, and with more confidence.

Watching these layers stack up in the lab never gets old.

Running a Pademelon CS.1 damper left us needing a new home for our OneUp EDC tools. Instead of wrestling with wet, annoying downtube bags, we utilized our in-house printers to engineer the SIDE QUEST Pump Mount.

Printed from a high-strength, carbon-reinforced filament, the resulting 32g mount bolts directly to the underside of any Santa Cruz Glovebox door. It gives your 70cc pump a dedicated home that stays dry, accessible, and completely rattle-free, no matter how harsh the trail feedback gets.

The most popular piece of gear we make isn’t even bolted to a bike.

The Pademelon Fisherman’s Waffle Beanie is back in stock, now in Walnut Brown and Eucalyptus Green. These have quickly become our most requested items for the simple reason that they work as well as they look. The heavy-gauge waffle knit is soft, holds its shape, and provides plenty of warmth for those early morning trail starts or late nights in the garage.

Whether you're heading out for a ride or just hanging out post-session, these are built to be your go-to daily staples. They move fast every time we get them in, so grab one while the new colors are still on the shelf.
