We know volunteers have enormous hearts. ❤️
For Jenny Scott, it was actually another organ which helped her make an incredible difference to someone’s life.
It’s National Volunteers Week, a time to recognise the diverse passions and talents people bring to the act of volunteering and the transformative impact of giving back.
Jenny and her daughter Samantha Scott-Girgenti have volunteered for the Kidney Support Network for more than 12 years.
They regularly visit with patients in the Mackay Base Hospital renal ward and help fundraise for the charity which supports and guides people through the journey of dialysis and kidney transplant. Samantha is the president and Jenny is an active member of the Kidney Support Network management committee.
It’s a cause very close to both their hearts – Jenny actually donated a kidney to her only child in February 2011 and helped save her life.
Last Week was Kidney Action Week, a time to raise awareness and to encourage Australians to take action, get diagnosed and get treatment before they reach kidney failure.
This week, we celebrate those volunteers who show enormous heart and give both their talents and their time to make a huge difference to others.
Jenny and Sam’s volunteerism and dedication to helping others is both selfless and an inspiration.
To all our wonderful volunteers across the Mackay HHS, we celebrate you this week and your wonderful contributions.
Happy National Volunteers Week! ⭐💐
