⭐️MEMBER SPOTLIGHT ⭐️
Meet our ceramicist Elizabeth Rose!

Elizabeth Rose is a Blue Mountains ceramicist based in Winmalee, whose practice draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape. Her work explores the textures, surfaces and subtle details of the natural environment — from the interplay of light and water across rock to the delicate presence of lichen and moss, and the colours found in the landscape.

Elizabeth first discovered ceramics in primary school, beginning a creative journey that has continued to develop throughout her life. She joined The Nook in 2019 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia. She continues to develop her ceramic practice and was selected in 2025 to be mentored by ceramic artist Sandy Lockwood through Cohorts.art.

In 2026, Elizabeth has exhibited her work in the United States, was selected as a finalist in the St Columbus Art Prize, and will participate in a group exhibition at Byron Clay Workers Gallery in September–October.

⭐️MEMBER SPOTLIGHT⭐️

Meet our very first Nook member Heather Mann!

The Nook Leura is celebrating it's 30th year in 2026 ~ and Heather was the first member to join back in 1996.

Heather has enjoyed a lifelong passion for garment sewing, patchwork and quilting. She has been "sewing to sell" for over 40 years.

Some of Heather's most popular items are her gorgeous pinafores for girls aged 6 months to 4 years and her small wall hangings. Her quilts are constructed by both hand and machine sewing.

Heather says she especially loves to see second (and sometimes third) generations of little girls wearing the pinafores she makes. 🙂👗👗👗

Meet our Tea Maker ~ Mel Jones!

Mel has been a part of The Nook Leura for 20 years ~ initially joining as an artist. 🎨

14 years ago Mel decided to try her hand at blending teas and created her business The Blue Mountains Tea Company.

Mel says she has always loved teas, and the 'ritual' of making a pot of tea to slow down, savour and enjoy. 😋🫖

Mel uses primarily organic ingredients in her tea blends and has completed the Tea Master Course.

Her most popular blends are Australian varieties made with eucalyptus and lemon myrtle, closely followed by her chai blends.

Mel's range also includes herbal varieties and she has recently added new teas to celebrate the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse occurring at the end of November.

At The Nook Leura we have beautiful women's fashion garments created right here in the Blue Mountains. 🌳🌳

With so much clothing produced overseas ~ it is refreshing to have our two talented seamstresses Ayako and Lynne, and our creative eco printer Wendy who upcycles pre-loved garments by eco-dying.

Ayako (The Niki Tree) creates women's tops, skirts, pants and accessories with a distinctive Japanese influence.

Lynne has been sewing her very popular classic cut pants for over 30 years. They look great in all seasons and never go out of style.

Take a look at Wendy's 'one off' pieces as she carefully curates dresses, tops, cardigans and jackets by eco printing in subtle earthy tones.

Quality Blue Mountains made women's fashion. Timeless and wearable throughout the seasons after year.
