Socks In The City

Socks In The City Socks in the City is a Homeless Healthcare project in conjunction with Rotary WA. Homeless people struggle to find clean dry socks to wear.

By donating to this appeal, you can help the homeless get clean, dry socks and prevent foot infections. As a result they can develop both trench foot and warm water immersion foot. Research indicates that a homeless person with a history of trench or warm water immersion foot is 8 times more likely to die in the next 5 years compared to a person who is not homeless. n

Once trench foot or warm water immersion foot has developed healing occurs only when the feet are cleaned, dried and exposed to air for weeks. The best treatment is prevention and the best prevention is to wear clean dry socks. Help Perth's Homeless Healthcare help our homeless by donating to our Socks In The City appeal. Every dollar raised goes directly to purchase socks for the homeless.

Many thanks to Deputy Principal Ms Taniya Rodrigues and the Year 12s at Chisholm Catholic College, Bedford who collected over 1,000 pairs of socks for the campaign last month. Despite all the pressure on Year 12s at this time of year, they were able to think beyond themselves and reach out to the more vulnerable people in our community. Well done!
