On the mantle is a delightful European seascape painting. Circa 1930’s, this oil on board is a quintessential capture of a Mediterranean harbour. A medley of boats,sails, sea and clouds- beautifully executed. A lovely mix of refined smooth and embellished texture. In overall good condition- some age related marks and small areas of paint loss in the sky and water- most noticeable bottom right. Frame is more recent, complimentary and of good quality. On the mantle is a charming antique Dutch seascape painting. Depicting a maritime scene of old sailing and fishing boats extending along a beach shore. The sky is heavily clouded and the shallow waves are choppy. Great use of textured brushstrokes in a neutral palette punctuated with green, red and blue. Circa 1920’s oil on board in a classical timber frame with gold border. Signed lower right. Age related wear to both painting and frame. Some small blemishes and craquelure to the painting surface. Small knocks, bumps and scratches to the timber frame in places. Please study the photos carefully to determine condition. Frame size is 46cm wide x 33cm high. Painting size is 35cm wide x 21cm high. On the mantle is a fabulous French painting of lots of boats.
A wonderful mix of colours and movement in this artwork depicting harbour life in Concarneau- Brittany, France. A mix of oil and gouache on board. Signed bottom right ‘M. Ledant 1965’. Overall this piece is in great vintage condition. The gold frame is more recent and is complimentary to the impressionist style of the painting.

I aim to show you (and describe) each piece as accurately as possible- that’s why I photograph each corner, from a side angle, the back of the painting (if it is important) and without lots of props and bits. I also spend time giving detailed and accurate condition descriptions to be as transparent as possible about the painting you are purchasing. On the mantle is an antique Dutch landscape of such beauty!
Circa 1920’s and painted in the impressionist style~ there is a richness and intensity to this work that coincides with immense calmness. A rural scene of lush green fields with cows grazing, mature trees full of leaves beside a stream, a quaint bridge over to the gate leading to the field of haystacks and the sky filled with the most lovely light. This piece will transport you to the countryside!
Just beautiful.
Signed lower left. Oil on canvas with original studding to the frame.
In great condition for age~ some typical craquelure (mainly to the sky area) and some small sections of paint loss/ rubbing to the edges of the canvas. Overall, the surface paint is nicely intact. On the mantle is a splendid antique French portrait of a Lady in a green dress.
Superbly detailed- delicate fine lace collar, ruffled sleeves, pleat work over the shoulders, the gems in her jewellery- all amazing! Not to mention the depiction of her calm, kind face. A very lovely portrait.
Signed lower left ‘E. Meresse 1849’. Oil on canvas with original studding to frame. 54cm high x 46cm wide x 2cm deep. Some age related wear but quite good for age- tiny areas of paint loss, small blemishes and age spots, some scratches and rubbing to the edges of the canvas. On the mantle is a fantastic Dutch seascape painting. The choppy waves, billowing sails, fluffy clouds- all captured so well in this oil painting on canvas. Many shades of green, steely grey/ blues punctuated with rich brown- complimented with a decorative timber frame in muted silver. Signed ‘J. Borggrere’. In overall great condition- just a few small blemishes here and there to the frame.

On the mantle is a lovely vintage botanical print of a Redoute rose.
Always admired for their beautiful realism and accuracy of flora~ this print is no exception.
Behind glass, the colours are still clear and bright with only a few age marks to the right hand side of the background. The double frame is a standout- rusty red velour and a classic gold and cream. Some small chips and age marks to the frame in places as well as a scattering of light indentations to the velour’s pile. Original Framer’s sticker on the back ‘The Yorktown Framers, Tasmania’. Some damage to the satin on the reverse. Please study the photos closely to determine condition. *Apologies for glass reflection!* Frame size is 33cm wide x 43cm high. Print size is 26cm wide x 36cm high.
