Hot day for a Tele Tuesday, and one of the coolest 70s Teles to cross my bench. Refretted with stainless steel Jescar wire and back to the son of the original owner, a true heirloom guitar now with frets that will likely still be there for the next generation.

Through the amazing generosity of the man known as Knowledgeable Nicholas, I have been gifted a stash of amazing old growth tonewoods that has been collected over decades. Some of this is leftovers from vintage aircraft restoration (think WWII bombers), some of it is wood that can barely be found anymore. A reminder of a time when timber was a plentiful resource and just how precious it and our world is. I've heard it attributed variously to Seneca or as an old Chinese proverb, but it reads "it is later than you think".

These are a few of my favourite shims. Things that make you go hmmmm. Various funny shims I've removed from neck pockets. Obviously, the cat wins. But today's lucky dip included a combination of cardboard, plastic, wood and wire mesh (top right), an all you can eat shim smorgasbord. Sadly without a cat though.

RIP Jeff Beck. Thank you. You were the best. Saw you at Austin City Limits in 2011 where you and Imelda May made the ENTIRE audience cry with your solo in Danny Boy, saw all the amazing guitar players in the audience (Eric Johnson, the Wilson sisters from Heart, Redd Volkaert and more) walking out of that gig shaking their heads. Just amazing. Never heard anyone coax such emotion from a guitar.

Uncanny how a lovely lefty lady customer has such similar colour tastes to my liquid carriers. The YETI thermos on the right was a gift from a generous musician friend at an all-male musician dinner and boy was there a pile on when I chose that colour. I bet no-one would've complained about the colour if it was on, say, a 63 Jaguar! Sometimes context is almost everything.
