WOW. KATOOMBA, YOU ABSOLUTELY SHOWED UP!!! 😭🙌
We are completely blown away by the incredible turnout for Late Night shopping last night. Our main street was absolutely buzzing! Thank you to everyone who came out to support our independent business owners, join the duck hunt, and fill the town with such amazing energy.

We had duck hunters of all ages joining in from all over the Mountains - and even visitors who made the trip up from Sydney! You kept our local business owners smiling all night. We gave away almost 200 brownies to our successful duck hunters, and most of our cafes completely sold out of food!

We love our town and this community so much. If you missed out or are already wanting more, we are already planning our next late-night event in three months’ time!

THE RAFFLE: We will be drawing the winners of our $1000+ local prize raffle this Wednesday! Keep an eye on your phone for a text from us to see if you’re taking home one of the hampers or individual gift cards.

Thank you again, Katoomba. You are amazing!

THE FACES OF KATOOMBA: Zoe from Fine Flowers

Operating for an incredible 37 years, Fine Flowers Katoomba | Blue Mountains Florist is the oldest florist in the Blue Mountains.

Zoe’s journey here started as an employee, but when the business came up for sale just one year later, she took a leap to fulfill a lifelong dream of running her own florist. Fast forward 7 years, and Zoe is still at the helm - and what a 7 years it has been!

From navigating bushfires and floods to surviving lockdowns, she’s faced it all. “I feel like if we can get through all of that, we can get through anything,” Zoe smiles. Today, she balances the shop with raising a 2 year old son - a beautiful, sleepless blur of a juggle, but fueled entirely by her love for the job.

A Mountains local who has been a florist for a decade, Zoe’s passion runs in her blood. “My dad is a horticulturalist and I grew up in the garden with my mum, so I definitely got the love of flowers from both my parents!”

It’s a true family affair: her husband handles the bookkeeping, and her mum still steps in to help on the big, bustling days like Valentine’s Day.

For Zoe, the magic is all in the connection. “Flowers are just beautiful to work with, especially watching the seasons change. I love seeing the joy it brings people - whether they’re receiving a surprise delivery, choosing a daily bouquet, or seeing a bride’s face on her wedding day. It’s so special to be involved in spoiling people.”
Fine Flowers does it all - from beautiful daily bouquets and corporate arrangements to sympathy flowers and gorgeous custom weddings. They also stock a curated range of beautiful gifts perfect for building your own hampers.

WHY KATOOMBA?
“The quirkiness! It’s been so nice seeing the town come back to life over the last year with so many fantastic new shops opening up. There’s a great energy.”

KATOOMBA LATE NIGHT
Fine Flowers is open late this Saturday 11th July! Spot the hidden rubber duck in their window display.

Zoe has generously donated a beautiful bunch of dried posies (shown in the last photo) to our raffle.

THE FACES OF KATOOMBA: Maggie & Andrea from The Swag

For Maggie and Andrea, vintage clothing has always been a lifelong love affair. After welcoming their 3-year-old son, Awanui, that passion grew into a dream of creating a family-run creative project - something they could build from the ground up and model a path of creativity and vitality for him.

That dream sparked a beautiful leap of faith. Not long ago, while on a tiny-home getaway in the Upper Mountains, the Sydney-based family fell in love with Katoomba’s energy. After eating momos on the main street and wandering past The Vault, they realized the vintage scene here was truly alive and buzzing.

When they noticed a shop lease available - one that previously housed a vintage store - it felt like fate.

“Taking a leap to create something of your own can feel very daunting,” they share. “But we put in an application, got approved a few weeks later, and realized... right, this is actually happening. We just decided to jump right in!”

Moving to the Mountains was a conscious lifestyle choice for their little family, wanting to surround their son with nature, community, and spaciousness. Since opening, the local business community has welcomed them with open arms.

“It feels amazing to be part of the revival happening in Katoomba right now.”

Everything in The Swag | Hand-picked Vintage is handpicked, piece by piece - an expression of what they truly love. Even the name is deeply personal. It nods to that quintessential, old-timey Australian bushman vibe, inspired by Maggie’s grandfather, who was a tracker. Coincidentally, Andrea loved it because people have always told them that their son has “swag”!

KATOOMBA LATE NIGHT
The Swag is open late this Saturday 11th July! They’ll have a rubber duck hiding in their store for visitors to spot.

They have incredibly generously donated 2 x $50 store vouchers to our prize pool! Every purchase you make at a participating shop on the night gets you an entry into the draw.

Drop in this Saturday to say hello to this beautiful local family and welcome them to the street!

Katoomba, through the lens of Liam Foster .

We love seeing our town’s heritage documented on film. Whether it’s a building still serving its original purpose like the Gloucester Flats, or old signs pointing to a bygone era - like the painted ‘TOYS’ facade and the skeletal Chinese restaurant neon - these structures tell the story of our main street.

It’s well worth looking up next time you’re in town to see these pieces of local history still standing.
