Purely growing this orchid in water… well… almost.

Hydroponics with a little help from GT CCS, Orchid Grow, and NTS Myco- & Tricho-Force — keeping roots happy and healthy.

And yes… before anyone asks, I know I’m wearing a Canna t-shirt while talking orchids. My nutrient loyalty is apparently… flexible. 😆

Cannazym isn’t needed yet — fresh roots are thriving. But once the system matures (about 4–6 weeks), it’ll help recycle older root material and keep things balanced.

Right now, the other products are perfect for the current situation — healthy roots, minimal buildup, everything running smoothly.

We’re excited to bring this little experiment to show & tell at the Orchid Society on the 18th. 🧪🌱

Because here’s what many growers overlook —

If you’re running RO water…
If you’re using soft or rain water…
Or if you’re growing in coco…

You need to think about calcium first.

Soft and rain water contain very little natural calcium and magnesium. That means when you add your nutrients, there’s no solid mineral base supporting uptake.

Why extending your moss pole matters 🌱

When your plant reaches the top of the pole, growth hormones shift. Instead of climbing, it starts to trail.

Extending the pole keeps that vertical momentum going — which means:

• Larger leaves
• Stronger aerial root attachment
• Better node spacing
• More mature growth

If you want those big, dramatic, mature aroid leaves…

Extend the pole. Keep them climbing. Let them reach their potential. 🌿

Ever wondered what happens to dead roots in your pots? 👀🌱

This is enzymatic action at work.

Seeing this I recall that Jessica dreamt I bought a lot of land… and honestly, she might be onto something.

Inspired by Oosterwold in the Netherlands — where residents dedicate 50% of their land to growing food — this is exactly how I’d do it.

Imagine neighbourhoods that feed themselves.
Soil that’s alive, not stripped.
Neighbours sharing harvests instead of fences.
Kids growing up knowing where food comes from — and who grew it.

Less dependence. More resilience.
Real connection — to the land and to each other.

Half for living. Half for feeding.
That feels like the future to me.

If I ever buy a lot of land… you already know what’s happening.
