Jamestown Markets Move to Memorial Park from March
The Jamestown Development Association (JDA) is pleased to announce that, starting in March, the Jamestown Markets will relocate to Memorial Park, marking an exciting new chapter for this much-loved community event.
The move has been carefully planned with families in mind.
Memorial Park offers a safe, open and child-friendly environment, making it an ideal setting for the markets. With established facilities, natural shade, seating areas, and a large playground, the park offers a relaxed, inclusive experience for visitors of all ages.
Jamestown Markets Manager Requel Hofstee said the new location reflects the broader vision for the markets as a place where families and the community can comfortably spend time together.
“The move to Memorial Park allows us to grow the markets in a way that really supports families and community connection, while making use of a space that already offers great facilities and a welcoming atmosphere,” Requel said.
Requel, a mother of two, relocated to Jamestown eight months ago after swapping coastal living for country life. She works during the week supporting young people living with disabilities, and brings a strong passion for event planning and celebrations, skills she is keen to apply to the ongoing development of the Jamestown Markets.
The park’s layout allows children to enjoy the playground and designated kids’ areas, while parents and carers browse stalls, relax in the shade or enjoy the atmosphere. Improved accessibility and open space also enable better stall layouts and visitor flow.
Music will now play a part at the Jamestown Markets through a Music at the Markets initiative, led by local musician Jane Butterworth. The initiative focuses on connecting people through music, particularly in regional communities, by providing welcoming spaces for singers, songwriters, musicians and community music groups to perform, busk and connect. Musicians of all experience levels are encouraged to take part.
Market visitors can enjoy a BBQ breakfast provided by a local community group, with funds supporting local initiatives, as well as coffee and cold drinks from the Love You a Latte coffee van.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in the popular Lucky Squares competition, with cash prizes available on the day.
A diverse range of stalls will feature throughout the year, showcasing handmade goods, crafts, produce and unique finds, with new stallholders joining as the markets continue to grow.
Gold coin donations are appreciated and help support the ongoing development of the Jamestown Markets as a family-friendly, community-focused event.
