Nati Frinj Biennale is a three-day visual art and performance festival in Natimuk, deep in the wheatbelt of Western Victoria. Held in late October to early November, Nati Frinj Biennale has forged a reputation for making outstanding, innovative and often audacious art projects. It is an important platform to showcase local artists and invite other artists to come and play, to experiment and collaborate.

You are invited on behalf of the Horsham Regional Art Gallery and Redrock Books & Gallery to celebrate the launch of Madjem Bambandila: The Art & Country of Kelly Koumalatsos, a book celebrating the artistic and cultural practice of acclaimed Wergaia and Wemba Wemba artist Kelly Koumalatsos.

The book brings together decades of Koumalatsos’ work, spanning mediums such as sculpture, painting and possum prints. It is an empowering book, full of tools used to inspire others and highlight the importance of her creative practice, while also featuring many photos and reflections on Koorie community and art.

This publication has been co-written with academic and artist Dr Paola Bala, and Wemba Wemba and Gunditjmara woman.

This event will feature a talk from Kelly Koumalatsos about the publication and her well renowned artistic practice. You will be able to purchase a copy of her book at the launch.

This is a free event, but bookings are essential.
