I've had my eye on this hand embroidered tablecloth on my shelf for a while now, and, for no particular reason, today I've cut out and made a size Medium Not Hawaiian Shirt. It's very rich, and I even put a pocket on it for a change.

Nobody was keen to try this coat on this morning. I wonder why? It's 10° outside, maybe? It's made from the most flawles...

Nobody was keen to try this coat on this morning. I wonder why? It's 10° outside, maybe?
It's made from the most flawless pure white point de venise lace vintage tablecloth. I suspect it has never seen daylight after being packed away in someone's dowry chest ages ago. I couldn't even bring myself to dye it.
It would fit most sizes as it has no fastenings in the front and it has ease because of the lace.
Imagine it worn over a simple dress, or a singlet and shorts, or jeans. Or nothing. Bold.

It's the last day of Selvedge26 tomorrow, Sunday 21 June. I'll be in the studio from 10.30 till 3.00, and then I'll retain a little collection for people to check out in the future. This is a major departure for my lampshade style. It's like a soft sculpture, made from a vintage linen tablecloth with a very rich lace edging. It might be described as Boho Chic, and would look very gorgeous in a feminine bedroom or study. It's a pendant, designed to hang from the ceiling.
PS I've just remembered that, with the addition of a cradle thingy, this lampshade would also work as an impressive standard lamp. And it measures 59cm in diameter and 34cm deep.

TasNetworks has scheduled a power outage for Sunday 14 June, so our Selvedge26 exhibition will be back from Monday 15 June, every day while Dark M**o is on.
Meanwhile, I made this shirt for a very discerning customer, who was happy to meet Robert Moore in person, the artist who designed and printed the fabric.
