My first Salamanca Market... what a day!

After weeks of making jewellery, figuring out my stall setup, trying to make enough stock and changing my display more times than I care to admit, market day finally arrived.

Cue the sleepless night before, the early start, and somehow talking more in one day than I had the entire week beforehand. By the end of the day my cheeks were sore from smiling, and when I got home I realised I'd been walking around with raccoon eyes for who knows how long (thank you 'natural' mascara). 😂

But more than anything, Saturday reminded me of a few things.

How incredibly blessed I am to have such an amazing family and to be surrounded by a village of beautiful people who have cheered me on, helped me prepare and celebrated every little win alongside me. You know who you are 😉🥰

And just how special the market community is.

A BIG thank you to 's Cottage for your kindness and generosity. Your help made my very first Salamanca market feel so much less overwhelming.

Working alone in the studio can sometimes be a little like sending things out into the world and hearing nothing back. You post on social media, make your work quietly, and hope it connects with someone.

Then you spend a day at the market, meeting people who truly get what you're trying to create. They notice the tiny details, share stories about places they recognise, and get genuinely excited about jewellery inspired by Tasmania's wild places.

And honestly... that's the best feeling in the world!!

To everyone who stopped by, chatted, tried pieces on or took a little piece of Tasmania home with them—thank you.

I came home exhausted, incredibly grateful, and full of hope. I can't wait to do it all again. 🌿

I've been sitting on this news for a little while now.

First came disbelief. Then overwhelm. And now... excitement!

I'm so happy to share that Hulley Jewellery has been accepted as a casual stallholder at the Salamanca Market. Salamanca Market

This is a really special milestone for me. Salamanca has long been a place that celebrates Tasmanian makers, and it's an honour to be part of it.

If you're wandering the market on Saturday 25 July, you'll find me at Site 63 (up toward the Davey street entrance) with jewellery inspired by Tasmania's wild places....from colourful lichens and rugged coastlines to ancient forests.

I'd love for you to stop by, say hello, and see the pieces in person.

See you at Site 63! ⛱️⛰️

Can you spot the icy mountain?

Taken this morning on my way out. I had to stop and take a moment to capture this sight. How stunning?

Kunanyi/Mt Wellington is really putting it on for us today! 🧊⛰️

Nature-inspired jewellery doesn't have to mean leaves and flowers.

The Foliose Collection began by studying the tiny details of lichen..their folds, movement and unexpected colours and transforming those observations into contemporary jewellery pieces.

I don't copy nature. I let it inspire the design.

Made for the noticers.
For those who find beauty in the details others walk past.

When you hear nature-inspired jewellery, what comes to mind?

Today marks eight years since our family moved to Australia 🤯.

It has me thinking about identity.

Over the years I've gathered many words that describe me: South African. Australian. Tasmanian. Maker. Mum. Wife. Artist. Daughter. Sister. Friend.

Each one is true. Each one has shaped me. But none of them is the foundation of who I am.

For me, that foundation is Christ.

It's from that place that everything else makes sense, including why I'm so drawn to the natural world.

When I slow down enough to notice the intricate patterns in a lichen, the texture of weathered rock or the quiet beauty of the Tasmanian bush, I don't just see interesting design. I see glimpses of a Creator whose fingerprints are woven throughout creation.

And because we're made in His image, I think we're created to respond with wonder.

Perhaps that's why this landscape has become such a deep source of inspiration for my jewellery. Not because Tasmania defines my identity, but because it continually points me back to the One who does.

Eight years on, I'm deeply grateful for the place we've come to call home and even more grateful for the identity that remains steady wherever I am.

❔️👂I'd love to hear from you...has a place ever become part of your identity, even if it wasn't where your story began?

Been making stock for a exciting new venture (more on that soon) but just had to take a moment to appreciate the beautiful form of the Boulder ring, No. 3.

I have changed the design slightly and love it even more!

These exact ones aren't on the website yet so if you would like to order one, dm me on here or follow the link in bio and message me through the website.

Happy Friday everyone!

The votes are in… ✨

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to vote on thw hoop poll. You certainly made life a little easier for this indecisive jeweller!

With 72% of the votes, the original hoop came out on top. While both styles have their own appeal, it was so helpful to hear what you were naturally drawn to.

One of the things I love most about sharing my work with you is being able to bring you along on these little design decisions. Your feedback gives me confidence that the pieces I'm creating are not only beautiful, but ones you'll truly enjoy wearing.

Thank you again for being part of the journey. It means more than you know. 🧡

I'd love your help with a design decision...

I'm considering replacing my current hoop with a hinged hoop and would really value your honest feedback.

Swipe through to see the comparison:
• On an earring display
• Worn in my ear
• Held in my hand

The charm hangs at exactly the same overall length in both versions. The only difference is the hoop itself.

Current hoop
• 22mm diameter
• 0.9mm continuous wire
• Delicate, minimalist look

Proposed replacement
• Approx. 15mm diameter
• Hinged closure
• 1.5mm at its thickest point
• Possibly easier to put on and take off.

If I make the change, the hinged hoop would replace the current design rather than be offered as an additional option.

I'd really love to know what you think.

🗳️ Keep the original hoop
🗳️ Switch to the hinged hoop

A small winter joy. 🤍

What an honour to be approached by the team at Slow Journal and to have my Boulder necklace featured in this season's issue called Analog. A beautiful magazine that shares so many of the values that shape my work, thoughtful craftsmanship, connection and living with intention.

This winter I've been challenging myself to take my lunch outside each day, come rain or shine. Just a simple pause away from the bench. I know how much the darker months can affect my mood, and these small rituals help me stay grounded and gently navigate the effects of seasonal depression.

A coffee, a view, and a reminder that slowing down is sometimes the most productive thing we can do.

Please tell me....Do you find winter months challanging or do you enjoy the shorter days and cosy nights?

Thank you, Slow Journal for including my work. ✨
