Our sincere thanks to all the musicians and friends who helped make our 30th year such a rewarding and fulfilling one, allowing us to continue doing the work we love. This year was marked by our continued dedication to creating, restoring, repairing, and servicing instruments, with an ongoing commitment to improve and inspire —particularly within the double bass and cello community. It was truly a year without a dull moment.

The most common question I get asked about instrument making is how how long does it take to create your instruments?
My answer is always the same. "As long as I need".

What a wonderful day. Building a top level custom travel and adjustable Bass for the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, QSO. Handing it over to the QSO team and Phoebe Russell - double bassist. All helping to get the music out and about.
Invaluable help from Eastman Strings Australia instruments, Upton Bass String Instrument Co. and of course the whole Atelier Puglisi team in Hawthorn.

"My heart felt thanks goes out to my supervisor Michelle Walsh for her guidance, Bernardo Aliv for his mentorship and the opportunity to premiere his new work, Phoebe Russell for her and waving dedication and passion as our teacher and for her support for this project and finally to my fellow Queensland con double bass students whom my simply could not have done this without."- Sophia

Incredible performance by Thomas Morgan with the Bill Frisell Trio last night, Melbourne International Jazz Festival. It was the performance debut for my latest instrument, Vitruvian IX. Wow, he did it justice! These guys are next level improv superstars.
Thanks for the help from Corey Swan and his amazing harmonic tailpiece, Gary Upton Bass String Instrument Co. with the Best adjustable Neck system and wonderful and Gaiatone Fingerboards. No Rainforest timber used!!

A big birthday shout-out to my close friend and colleague, Tim Kill. For more than a quarter of a century, he’s been a constant presence in the Atelier Puglisi workshop. He first turned up at my door as a teenager, brimming with natural talent and enthusiasm, and has since grown into one of the worlds most creative, innovative, and hard-working luthiers. And when it comes to restoration, the tougher the challenge, the more he shines. We've certainly had a lot of laughs and fun along the way too.

Remembering Jessica Gilliam-Valls
Like a lot of people, I was so very sad to hear about Jessica Gilliam-Valls’ sudden passing. Anyone who knew her, even a little, will feel that loss.
I got to catch up with Jessica back in June and sat in on a few of her rehearsals and share a meal. She was not just a talented musician, but also an energetic and inspiring teacher. Watching her work with her students was genuinely uplifting.
We had some great chats about how she leads big groups—her style was full of enthusiasm, and it really worked. I actually told her she should come out to Australia sometime and share her approach; I’m sure folks here would have loved her energy and expertise. RIP Jessica. Love and support to her family and close friends. - Benedict Puglisi
