How did that happen?? I’m elated and devastated in equal measure!

But I’m really just trying to grab your attention and gain your sympathy 😂

With no shame at all, I’m blatantly asking for money.

Well not really, just thought I’d put this up for my daughter Anna and some of her school friends - they are fundraising for the World’s Greatest Shave to raise funds for research and awareness of blood cancer.

The girls aren’t shaving their heads, but they are cutting enough off (20cm or so) to donate for wigs.

It’s a worthy cause as in Australia there are 140,000 families facing blood cancer right now. And it takes the lives of 16 Australians every day. These numbers are set to double by 2035.

Any amount – big or small – will make a real, tangible difference. If you feel at all inclined, I know the girls would be so grateful xx

Another lovely piece of furniture for sale!

I love this couch, but again sadly, I have nowhere to put it. 😢

She’s unique this one… peacock blue velvet, with salmon coloured steel that curves and curls all over the place. A little bit crazy and a whole lot gorgeous. 🦚 🛋️ 👌

I’m selling my beloved drawers! 😢

These have served me (and my customers!) well as my shop counter for nearly six years. I’ve loved them and I’ll be sad to say goodbye, but it’s time to let them go, as I just don’t have the space for them at home.

I don’t know their exact history - they’re American, probably 1930’s, and there have been many theories about what they were originally used for - possibly optometrists drawers. The previous owner stored her button collection in them. They would be wonderful for all sorts of collections. They’re solid as a rock, and in beautiful condition.

There are 2 sets of drawers, I have always had them sitting side by side. The dimensions for each set:

H 95cm

W 110cm

D 75cm

Hi again… I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the lovely messages, calls and comments I’ve received since announcing the closure of Brisk. Thank you so so much, it’s made me a bit of an emotional wreck!! I promise I will respond to every one, I just get a bit teary when I try (oh dear Bronwyn, pull yourself together girl!!) 😭😂
I wanted to let you know that Brisk will be open from WEDNESDAY to SATURDAY for the next few weeks… just a few commitments to attend to on some Tuesdays. I’ll attempt to do a full week before I’m finished!
I will also have to duck away a little bit, finishing early a few afternoons, and an hour or so late Friday mornings. Apologies in advance, it’s all a juggle isn’t it.
I hope you’ll drop in and say hello and goodbye, and I’m sorry if I dissolve into tears when I chat to you! 😳 Xx

Hello lovely people, I’m back from my adventure – I absolutely loved my first trip to Japan, but it’s good to be back on home soil again.
 
Being away gave me time to reflect, & gain some perspective on things. So it may not be surprising to many of you, that I have decided to close the Brisk shop.
 
The reasons for my decision are many, but here’s just a few…

* I’m really pleased to hear that there has been positive progress on the New England Rail Trail. It may be many years however, before the Guyra section is done, & sadly I don’t have the energy to wait for that to happen.

* Retail is bloody tough right now. Cost of living issues are real for everyone, & buying pretty things tends to drop to the bottom of the list in times like these. I get it. It’s partly why I’ve been quiet on the socials – I’m not good at the hard sell, & I feel guilty taking people’s money when life is tough… maybe I’m in the wrong business!!

* I’m a bit burnt out! I’ve been doing this for 5 1/2 years now, which really is much longer than I had anticipated when I started. I’m thrilled that I have been able to do it for this long, & it’s probably the longest I’ve been in one job.

* My daughters are growing up! I have barely seen a game of their Saturday sport for over 5 years, & with my eldest in Year 11, the reality of them leaving the nest is looming, & I feel a great need to make the most of all the moments.

I have such mixed emotions about it all, but it’s the right decision for me right now.

More to say, but for now I’ll just tell you that I’m continuing the SALE… now with 50% off everything (well almost everything… coffee, lamps, silver jewellery & current magazine issues being exceptions). At the moment it’s just in-store, as the website is a bit of a mess! I’ll endeavour to fix it & add an online sale soon too.

To be clear, it’s only Brisk that’s closing - the beautiful Crop Hair Design & The Treatment Room will remain open & trading as normal. I’ll be so sad to leave these lovely girls.

If you have Gift Vouchers… now’s the time to use them! Vouchers can’t be redeemed for cash, if you don’t use them, you lose them… so please come and use them!!
