GREENWASHING 🧠 🍃

“GREEN” is often used to imply a product is clean and eco-friendly. Highly unregulated, this term is often thrown around as a way to incentivise sales by making their customers feel like they’re doing good by making this purchase.

The beauty industry is tricky— it can be really difficult to be a completely “green” and eco-friendly company without having the end product cost an arm and a leg. It’s almost impossible for every part of a brand to be “green”, so when assessing brands we look at what they are doing to be green, their intentions, and future direction.

In many cases, independent brands are run by passionate founders who really take their footprint seriously and do what they can to minimise it. Smaller companies are showing up, and it puts the pressure on the big brands to follow suit and do their part.
