Did you know that in 1984 Mainline actually produced pre production samples of the GWR and BR 14xx locomotive for their 1984 catalogue. Unfortunately they never were produced in production as Mainline closed down when Palitoy ended model train production in 1984. We have been fortunate to acquire the only two samples and they now form part of our collection of rare models. Attached below are photos of the only two models showing hand painted finishes and having Mainline stamped on their chassis. The BR version lacked a smokebox number plate being based off the GWR version (hence it was never photographed from the front in the catalogue). Do they run? The answer is yes the mechanisms run but not very well. It is probable that the chassis still needed work and refining they utilised the Airfix motor not the pancake motor when anounced and these were really just the decorated models for the catalogue. I have attached photos of the models as they are today. As an avid Mainline collector I feel grateful to have the only complete Mainline collection!

We have our stand up and running at the Rosehill Gardens model railway exhibition in Sydney. Day one was extremely busy. The show is on again tomorrow Sunday 5th May 2024 9am to 4pm. We have many rare items on our stand not on our Ebay webstore. Plus information on Bachmann's latest releases. Come and visit us and say hi.

Forest Miniatures is exhibiting this weekend at Forestville Model Railway Exhibition today from 9am to 4pm at Forestville Memorial Halls Cnr Starkey Street and Warringah road Forestville. The show is organised by the North Shore Railway Modellers Assoc Inc in association with The Riding For the Dusabled. On behalf of my mum Deirdre we regret to advise Forest Miniatures will not be attending the Rosehill Gardens model railway exhibition this weekend due to mum still not being strong enough to attend. She is continuing to recover and we hope you will support the Epping Model Railway Club this weekend. It is a wonderful show and one we have been glad to support over the past several years including running buses. Rest assured the shop and mail-order via our Ebay store are still in full operation for you to place orders.

Here is a really nice look at Ally Pally Festival of Railway Modelling from Alexandra Palace from 2 weeks ago! If you get a chance to travel to the UK thus is one of the shows to go to. Many of the largest manufacturers attend.
