Vintage Garage, a Collingwood institution has relocated from their home of 10+ years, we didnā€™t go far physically, we only crossed the street into Fitzroy, but symbolically we moved into another dimension Our new home is bigger & ballsier and promises to deliver the best kind of sensory overload and shopping experience. Our new home also features a complete building interior artwork installation from the supremely talented Melbourne artist Chuck Mayfield

So drop in at 323 Smith St, Fitzroy and prepare to have your mind blown and despite all odds, witness the magic that came out of 6 months in lockdown. For those of you not able to join our orbit we offer this virtual shopping experience, Vintage Garageā€™s first in-house collection, a Glam/Rock/Disco fusion that brings back the highly sought after classics from the 70s era but reinvented in a combo of both contemporary fabrics and colour ways in limited runs made to order, the modern disco with a dash of stardust. The silhouette of these garments are inspired by the personal archive owned by Marisa Gallagher, the brainchild behind Vintage Garage. Also on offer is a stunning selection of accessories, beaded capes and gowns and one off creations, with more coming to the website soon.

Iā€™m sorry Iā€™ve been quiet lately, the last couple of weeks have been incredibly rough and filled with an inhuman amount of trauma.

And this week my beautiful 93-year-old dad was admitted to hospital with a spinal fracture. I havenā€™t been able to see my family in months šŸ„ŗ

I had planned to share some exciting fundraising announcements this week. Iā€™ve been working hard behind the scenes with my incredibly generous community, which has genuinely been giving me life and the will to keep fighting. But for now, I have to hold off, but stay tuned, because you as a community, are going to want to know whatā€™s going on in your backyard and how you can continue to support me.

As an immediate and necessary triage to help us keep the doors of Vintage Garage open, a dear friend Sayo has launched a Crowdfunding campaign, this is also to allow for our interstate family and online supporters to contribute. Truth be told, Iā€™m not really a fan, I had to be talked into it. But after consulting industry friends, I realised it was better to ask for donations (for those who are in a position to donate $) than to create reward tiers that would put more pressure on me financially right now.

šŸ’” Iā€™ve exhausted every reserve of fight financially and physically to get us to this point. To stay, I need your help.

There are two ways you can support us for now:

1. Weā€™ve been working hard behind the scenesā€¦come down & be part of the magic ā€” over the next 6ā€“8 weeks weā€™ll be pivoting Vintage Garage into a buzzing community space with events/booking opportunities think:

As the eclipse rose over Melbourne this morning, I couldnā€™t help but feel its symbolism. Eclipses close one chapter so a new light can shine. Vintage Garage, at this bricks and mortar location on Smith Street, is closing ā€” but its spirit will live on in every beat, every disco ball, and every dream still to come, stay tunedāš”ļø

Iā€™ve been searching for the right words for days and the truth is, there are none, I will have more to say in the coming weeks.

Today is about opening the doors for you one last time ā€” giving my incredible community the chance to come down, bring joy to the space, and celebrate this end of an era with me, please join me from 6pm til lateāš”ļøone last time, before the iconic beating disco ball heart of Fitzroy literally leaves the buildingā€¦šŸŖ©

To my greyhound-loving community šŸ¾ please bring your furbabies, I need all the love it all itā€™s forms.

We plan to invite the media to help shine a light on the injustice unfolding and how it will affect the wider community.
