“The secret of a good retail store is range,” said The Famous Arthur Daley's founder and operator, Peter A Ferne.

“We have always catered to a niche market of price-sensitive customers. Our customers love our bargain products, such as art and craft, stationery, party, health and beauty products, household products, pet accessories, holiday decorations, food and drink, apparel and novelty products.

“We pride ourselves in offering full ranges, at the lowest prices, in all our 30 departments. Everyday's a sale at The Famous Arthur Daley's!"

1992: We opened our first store on Swanston Street, Melbourne. Thousands of city shoppers flood into our pop up shop in the central business district at a time when city bargain basements are closing. 1992 to 1995: We moved into a number of pop up locations along Swanston Street, Melbourne. 1999: We moved into the Basement, 33-37 Swanston Street, Melbourne in 1999. This shop became known as a "bargain basement "for city workers, city dwellers and international tourists, earning us titles such as "Melbourne city shoppers' paradise", "Melbourne city bargain hub", "cheap shop" and "Melbourne city discount variety store". 2007: We launched our first regional outlet in the Basement, 131 Moorabool Street, Geelong. June 2012: We closed the Basement, 131 Moorabool Street, Geelong. December 2012: We launched our first superstore at 1136 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully, Victoria (formerly The Pool Room) offering unlimited free parking to our customers. 1 July 2015: We took over the management of Australia's leading online retail store 'Club Retail' 28 July 2015: We sold our 33-37 Swanston Street, Melbourne, ending our 23-year history in Melbourne CBD. 30 July 2015: We launched 'Arthur Daley’s Online' to meet our customers' increasing demand for low cost products, offering more than 500,000 bargain products from our 30 departments (website now closed) December 2015: We ran a series of successful 'Club Retail Moving Sale' events before moving all Club Retail stock into our Ferntree Gully warehouse 1 June 2017: We launched a new cafe called 'Arthur's' at 1136 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully, Victoria
